Hello

I have a question about what i feel is a problem at my small group. Most of the people that attend, are always late, they get up to answer cell phones during the class. I personnaly think it is first and foremost rude to God, and then rude to the Bible study teacher, as well as the host. How should i address this? Is there any specific bible vs. to addres this???

Thanks Brian

Hello Brian.....great to hear from you..

Re your post.....and problems......You have my greatest sympathy..... You are doing a great job for Jesus ministering to these people. I hear what you are saying.....re the interuptions......but this all part of the job when serving the Master.

Do not be discouraged....without doubt these dear people love you, though coming late etc. .....Just love them for Jesus.....carry on with what you are saying/doing, this will bring results......and your words will be getting through, despite what is going on otherwise.... Amen

I remember a study when I was a young man. The study related to the pattern of worship in the N.T. Well we looked at this at length. The conclusion being..........there is no pattern!

This is so......Do what you are doing brother......ignore the interuptions, make allowance indeed, but love the people.......and you will be blessed

God Bless You

I sort of agree, but only if it is not effecting the other members of the study. For example, if someone stops to answer their phone, if it interrupts others trying to learn, then I would say it maybe should be addressed. Frequent interruptions while trying to understand the word of God would infuriate me because I hunger to understand what he wants so badly.

However if this study is in the middle of the week it is clear the people there must have at least SOME desire to be there, and it is possible they are doing their best to fit some bible time into their week. If it is on Sunday then I would say maybe talk to the host about it privately before you talk to anyone else. If it is disrupting your personal time to learn about God I would say that maybe some action should be taken. Try and be as forgiving as you can. Sometimes when I want to get angry, if I wait even a few seconds I sometimes see that people have valid reasons for their seemingly inconsiderate behavior.

I cannot think of any scripture to help you here... I think it boils down to just remembering that it's your time to learn about God. What is more important? It should be treated with reverence. I think maybe the host should just make it clear that cell phones should be turned off unless people are having emergency type issues, and I bet if he even asked just once that people try to be on time, even at the end of a class, it could have a big impact. After that just be as forgiving as you can and assume that people are following the guidelines presented by the host as best they can. Just my .02$

I understand your frustration. I used to be a cashier at my father's gas station / deli. It was a busy place, customers walking up to pay for so and so. They yip and yap on their cell phones being entirely inconsiderate of the cashier and the customers behind them. I mean, I would honestly love to break the cell phone in half. It angered me so much the lack of consideration for others and not to mention how loud, obnoxious they are on the phone as well.

I agree with Stephen and Jculver. They make valid points. If the class is in the middle of the week, they have a desire to be there. Although not likely the majority of the time, maybe they do have important phone calls to receive from home (family?). However, I think they should have a sign to have cell phones turned off. Its just annoying. Everyone should "be still" and listen to GOD. Is the time not for Him?
