:rose: Just been doing a lot of thinking and praying too. One of my deepest thoughts that continued to address my thoughts, was "so we know the Holy
Spirit". Is He seperate and apart from God and does He have His own personality?
See, for years now, I have seen the Holy Spirit as suspect and I am just coming to understand that He is a great deal more than that. I have concluded that He is the best "friend friend", I have ever had.

I really want to know the Holy Spirit mre, because He is so full of fruits. But I can wait until I die, but Holy Spirit, Buddy Boy, you teach me then, okay?

God bless the Holy Spirit amongst your pieces. I love Him Father and want to be with Him forever.

thanks :rose:

Hi Pixie,

Our God is made up of three persons. They are equal in divine substance, and unlimited in power, love and knowledge, etc. They are completely unified. They are the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are three, but they are One. They work closely together in creation, salvation and just about everything, but they sometimes have specific defined roles too.

The Holy Spirit is our guide and teacher of Truth. John 14:17,26, 16:13; Romans 8:16; 1 Corinthians 2:10--16; 1 John 5:6
He is our helper (counselor). John 14:16 and 16:17
He reveals and represents Christ to us and lives in our hearts. John 16:14-15, 15:26; Romans 6:19; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 2 Corinthians 1:21-22; Galatians 4:6
He gives us power and boldness. Acts 1:8 and 2 Timothy 1:7
He also gives us spiritual abilities or gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:11, 14:1
The Holy Spirit sanctifies us, i.e. makes us more mature and Christ-like. Romans 15:16; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18; Galatians 5:22-23
He helps us pray. Romans 8:26-27
He gives us new life. Romans 8:11
We can be filled with Him! Acts 2:4, 4:31, 9:17

The Trinity (three Persons-one God) is tricky to understand, infact I don't think anyone would say that they have a total grip on it. It has been a hot topic of debate throughout church history, especially in the first 500 years.

This is how I explain it...In our family we have 4 people; we are 1 family, but we have 4 people in it.
We have One true God (his actual name is Yahweh) but God is made up of three equal and unified persons.

The Holy Spirit does have a personality. We can grieve Him (Ephesians 4:30) and hinder His work. (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

I hope this helps

Hi Pixie,

It's really great that you want more of God and want to understand more about the Holy Spirit. You don't have to wait until you die (as you said in your first post), spiritual desire is the first step in getting closer to God and His Spirit.

"If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this He (i.e. Jesus) meant the Spirit...John 7:37b-39a

"...call upon Me and come pray to Me and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:12 &13

Maybe you can let us know how you're going?

Forgive Me

:rose: Please forgive the crazy way I tried to express myself. I do believe in the Holy Spirit and love Him deeply. I was writing and paying attention to my company at the same time, so everything came out conveluted.
I love the Holy Spirit. I know that God is comprimised of three parts, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, it is just that some people ask whether or not, apart from the Father, the Holy Spirit and Jesus are God. My answer is that they will never be apart and that is all there is to it. But this is a great theological debate. What do you think? This age old question goes back to the beginning of roman catholisism. Can Jesus and the Holy Spirit be seperate and apart from God and if they are, are they God still? I just believe that they can never be apart and that is the end of debate.
Like I said, forgive the mixed up way that I was trying to express myself. Goofed, hope this is a lot clearer.
Love Pixie :rose:

Hi Pixie,

It depends what you mean from "apart."

Jesus lived on earth for about 33 years, as you know, and He was only baptized with the Holy Spirit when He was 30 years old and about to begin His earthly ministry. There would have been some degree of separation between Jesus and the Father (and the Holy Spirit prior ro baptism) while Jesus was on earth. When Jesus wanted to get close to the Father He went to pray. The gospels reveal that He spent a lot of time praying! (If Jesus had to pray to be near to the Father than surely we MUST to.)

We know that when Jesus was bearing the sins of the world on the cross, that God the Father was "apart" from him, possibly because the sins were too gross and incompatible with the holiness of God.

"My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" Mark 15:34

Thankfully we will never be forsaken by God!!! Hebrews 13:5

Jesus never lost His "Godness" (deity) even on earth. (see Colossians 2:9)
Jesus and the Holy Spirit are just as much God as God the Father.
Like I said before the concept of a Triune God is tricky too truly understand, but I hope this helps.

I am not a christian but recently I have felt drawn to chat here and learn about the bible. People keep telling me that it is the Holy Spirit that is drawing me. I do not really know what that means. It all seems so real to you that I felt like saying something

Hi CuriousLarry,

Many of us who have already made the decision to follow Jesus (instead of just living for ourselves) recognise that there was some spiritual drawing towards God before that momentous decision.
Some of us even recognise that God really looked after us for many years well before we even came to know Him as Lord and Saviour.

I truly hope that you find Him. The best places to look are:
in the Bible, (especially the New Testament - try the Gospel of John),
at a good Bible-believing Church,
here at TalkJesus,
through a Christian friend,
or simply reach out to God yourself...

My prayer is that God will be real to you too!

Salvation, and a real connection and relationship with God, are just a prayer away.

You are right God is 3 in 1. Father, son, and Holy Spirit. The Bible says to call no man father for 1 is your Father in Heaven, Then we have His Son Jesus the Christ, our Salvation comes from him and enables us to communicate to the Father in Heaven, Jesus has fixed the broken comunication line to the Father, and the Holy Spirit is our Gift from Jesus given to all who beleive on Him, The Holy Spirit is the only way to the Kingdom of God John 3:5 it makes known to us our sin, and teaches us the Word in Truth, tells us when we are under attack from the evil one,and gives us power and athority to bind and rebuke the spirits that attack our minds. but the 3 in 1 I like to put like this say if you are a man you can be a son, daddy, and a uncle but you are still 1 person just as if you are a girl you can be a daughter, mother, or an aunt but you are still 1 person. Just as a human being is 3 in 1 also, body, soul, and spirit.1Thes. 5:23 so is God He is soul "Father", He is body "Jesus" and He is Spirit"The Holy Spirit". and we grow closer to God by being in alignment with Him.and the key here is in what order of our being do we allow to have control of us. now to be in alignment our beings should line up with the blood of Jesus covering our spirit with our soul under the spirit and our body under our soul,"this is how we were made untill sin came involved." But when man died spiritualy the soul took over the possion of the spirit leaving man to us his mind, emotions, and will.this changed the way we think, feel, and try to figure things out in our minds. when we are aligned with the soul covering our spirit it blocks the spirit from hearing Gods' voice cause God talks to our spirit. Alot of things that feel good isn't God ! But when our spirit is born again we are able to hear the voice of God in which our spirit is then protected by the blood of Jesus ! So the propper alignment is placeing the blood of Jesus first, then or spirit ,soul last body. watch the cleansing stream flow may God toutch all your hearts with love in Christ Brother Gene

Thank You Gene that was a very good discription of the Holy Spirit and may I say that as close as I am to the Holy Spirit that make me realize even more about Him and brought me even closer. What you did for me with that thought is what I consider as ministering and true brotherly love. Again Thank you brother MGBY(May God bless you)

He is real, Larry! The Holy Spirit is real. You will find this out, with great joy, when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, when you receive JESUS as your Lord and Savior. I'm glad you are here at talk Jesus. You are in the right place.
