Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, [and] brought tribute. So the LORD preserved David wherever he went. He also put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David wherever he went. 2 Samuel 8:6,14 NKJV

Do you want to be successful? If so, great! If not, what are your other options?

God made Abraham very successful. God granted Abraham’s servant success (Genesis 24). A few generations later, God made Joseph extremely successful. Four centuries later, Moses talked about God’s desire to make His people successful and prosperous. Six centuries later, God made David extremely successful (1 Samuel 18:5, 14, 15, 30). The list goes on and on.

Is God willing to make you successful? It depends.

In Joshua 1:7-8, God promises you will be prosperous and successful if you study His Word, meditate on it daily, and faithfully obey His commands.

In Psalm 1:1-3, God promises that anyone who delights in obeying His Word and meditates on it daily will prosper and succeed in whatever he does. Many similar verses follow throughout the Psalms and the book of Proverbs.

Why would God make such extravagant promises? Not because He wants you to be rich and famous! No, that’s missing the point completely.

Prayer: Lord, You want me to re-imagine what success means in my life. I see it starts with taking You at Your Word.

' Thus saith the LORD,
Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
neither let the mighty man glory in his might,
let not the rich man glory in his riches:
But let him that glorieth glory in this,
that he understandeth and knoweth Me,
that I am the LORD
which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth:
for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.'
(Jeremiah 9:23-24)

' But without faith it is impossible to please Him:
for He that cometh to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.'
(Hebrews 11:6)

' And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.'
(Luke 1:46-47)

How great is our God, @Christ4Ever,

Yes, God delights to bless us, and the Old Testament Scriptures were designed not only as an historical record, but as a guide for God's People Israel, to lighten their path, and preserve their way, and enable them to shine as lights in the world among the heathen among whom they lived. To separate them unto Himself, and to enrich them and bless them in the eyes of the world around. Obedience to His word brought all of this, and magnified God's name in all the earth. Disobedience resulted in His Name being blasphemed among the nations, and was the cause of their fall.

Though we are not under law as they are, and not obliged by covenant to keep the commandments of God, it would be silly not to consider our way in the light of them, for there is no doubt that they would instruct us and make us wise, in regard to our life's walk and our witness to the world around us. We are not 'servants of God', but 'Sons', but we yet serve God, but with a Sonship spirit, and not as servants. How much more should we desire to honour and glorify God as His Sons, in Christ Jesus, than if we were simply servants. For not only are we His own inheritance, in heavenly places, but we have an inheritance in Him which far exceeds anything we can begin to imagine, with all spiritual blessings, and not in basket and store as Israel's were.

Our ambitions as those who walk in the Spirit, are not the same as those who walk according to the flesh, and are eternal, and not temporal.

Praise God!

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

I'm learning, finally, that God does not want you to succeed on your own hook....He wants us to depend on Him to make us successful. to make us winners....I'll leave it there

He will give you the "desires" of your heart, IF your desire is to know Him more. If your desires is for the riches of the world, then you shall never see "true" riches. When your desire is focused on Him, eventually, you will be full to the brim with spiritual gifts, and then because God loves giving His children gifts, He will start giving you the lesser gifts that humans want more so.
