Don’t Give Up

Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.
Hebrews 10:36

Effective leaders accomplish seemingly impossible tasks because they never give up. They never buckle under. Despite mounting criticism, intense opposition, and overwhelming obstacles, they persevere with determined resolve. They refuse to throw in the towel.

Often, the easiest thing would be to quit. Just give up. Forget about one’s dream and return to the comfort and convenience of mediocrity. Give in to the words of the critics, give up to the opposition, and give way to the obstacles. Simply tuck tail and run away.

Great power is embodied in persistence. The race is not always won by the fastest, nor the game by the strongest, but rather by the one who keeps on keeping on, who refuses to give up. Consider the postage stamp. Its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing till it gets there. Race car driver Rick Mears said, "To finish first you must first finish."

It is always too soon to quit. One of the most powerful and destructive tools that Satan has in his arsenal is discouragement, the subtle but dangerous compulsion to give up, to quit, saying, "What's the use?"

When you are tempted to quit: resist. We must endure in the battle until the evil day is over. We must press on in the face of the temptation to quit. Until the war is over, we must fight to the end. Until the race is finished, we must keep running. Until the wall is built, we must keep stacking bricks. Never give up. Never. The promises of God are always at the end.

Greetings rizen1,

I find the best way to keep from quitting is to die daily.

Bless you ....><>

2Corinthians 4:18
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Romans 8:9-11

The first and most important step is shown in the Hebrews 10:36 citation - we must ascertain that the activity involved is truly God's will for us, that we are responding to a divine appointment and not running off under our own steam to "do something for God."

"Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build." (Ps 127:1a)

I understand that depression can be a very serious situation (Speaking it terms of giving it up) But the lord loves each and everyone of us.

Its hard to explain depression for those who havent suffered from it, clinically, but I will just say it is a lot worse then getting angry because someone at work accidentally spilled a coffee on you, I should know as I HAD depression, Do I still have it? Not as much, In fact it is lessening, because I am trusting the Lord God to help me, but I have to do what I feel is the right thing to worship the Lord as well.

A lot old habits are due to obsessiveness, It says in the bible that Satans main goal among other things is for us to forget about God, he always likes us to put things off until the last minute, this may seem trivial but even something like making your bed when you get up in the morning, is pleasing God, and it makes more sense, because it is then over and done with.

When People have depression, a lot of the time they think that nobody cares, but God cares.

At church last week, we had a few young children, some of them only 2 months old, baptized into the word of the Lord. How surreal is it that we all are different ages, different skin colours, different families, but the one thing we all have in common is our love for Jesus Christ.

God's Love is worth a lot more then a new toy or a dvd, His love is forever I thank God everyday that he is helping me be a better christian and that I have Him in my life.

Life is happier for people with God in it, So Satan has lost once again

Where is that found in the Bible? I've been reading Scripture on a daily basis for 25 years and I don't recall ever reading anyhing to that effect. Satan wants to separate us from God by twisting His Word and by tempting us to put the things and people of this world at the top of our priority list (idolatry).

Hey Rizen your thread is all about steadfast and I looked up the word and here are some definition:

Firm in purpose
Unwavering
