Well it was a lot of prayer, you prayed to “GOD” to teach you how to read HIS Book, crying, standing up for hours in the old book stores, and asking “GOD” to guide you in what book to buy, little money, And they had the “lay away” plan to buy a book. $2.00 payment a week. And about a couple months you foundly bought it. At least you could stand there in the store and read some of the a book, that you could not afford, “LOL” instead buying a $0.25 hamburger for yourself you saved that quarter.
You “Fast” and didn’t even know it, neither was you trying and you drunk water, And everywhere you went, even on the street they had “Water Fountains”. Water was free.
Have times change?
You could walk in a “Confectionery store” and ask for glass of water, even a little kid.
And if your didn’t have a loaf of bread in the house, grab a couple “Soda Pop”Bottles on the back porch and buy a “half a loaf of bread”. LOL, and if you had a couple bottles you could buy a half dozen of eggs at the corner store.

I'm a little younger than you, but my dad was older when he had me, 44 years old. He was around in the times of the great depression, so even when we had money we lived like we were poor. He worked hard but was called a penny pincher and a miser. I don't even hear those words anymore, lol, I think we are more spoiled nowadays in America? I remember on Sundays after church my mom sneaking us kids to the hamburger place to get .35 cent hamburgers. We always drank water and had a soda maybe once a week. That’s right, Jesus said to call no man your teacher because God and His Christ are supposed to be your teacher.

That does not mean we do not have to go to church nor having any need to edify one another in Christ's love in Christian forums when we have talents to share that the Lord has given us.

The problem here is to avoid the double standard. One may condemn anyone for sharing edification to correct the brother in scripture, yet while having free reign as if everybody should yield to be taught from him instead.

The point is to confirm whatever edification or correction by the scripture with the Lord to confirm the word to himself and if it be lacking or needing correction as the Lord points it out, then the Lord should lead the other to reply in Christ's love with that correction in rightly dividing the word of truth. But if it is supported by scripture, then the corrected brother should use that as something taught by the Lord and not by that brother since only He can confirm the word to himself.

1 Corinthians 3:5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

That does not mean that if the Lord confirms the truth as shared by that brother, that everything he says will be true from now on as if that corrected brother has to yield and listen to him. is not true either. because we are to prove everything by Him all the time no matter who gives the "talent". It is written, cursed is he who puts his trust in man. That means any man, even the preacher man. Our trust should be in the Lord and in His Word .
