It's been said (and I believe this can be applied especially to Christianity) that the best things in life aren't things at all.......rather relationships (building existing ones, and starting new ones......this would be friendship) and experiences, fellowship, learning new things, helping others, and increasing in wisdom (this would include the intellectual kind, 'book knowledge', 'street smarts', and spiritual)
Yes the relationship thing includes your relationship with God.
However there seems to be a double standard in the church. It's said we shouldn't live a materialistic lifestyle, and for the things of this world.
However what frustrates me most is what is that what seems to define a successful Christian in contemporary churches and mainstream Christianity is.....
The status they have in the church (what position they hold)
A college degree or being 'well educated'.
Christians seem to automatically jump to this conclusion that a Christian who has a ton of material things and is living the American dream is immediately happy and successful, and that's what is important.
