Dream interpretation

Hi,
I believe that God communicates with us in a number of ways with dreams being one of the most lucid. Last night I had a dream I feel was from God and was wanting other Christian's takes on it.

First, you need a back story. I had a fiance and we were together for 4 years. I came home one day to everything in our home, including him, gone. His family never liked me because while they were "Christians" I was never Christian enough, rich enough or good enough no matter what I did or didn't do. I discoveed that they were the driving force behind the split (other than God). After months of sorting out a lot of financial stuff, I ceased communication with him because I knew God removed him from my life and me from that situation for a reason.

However, about a month ago we reconnected. He insisted he grew up and change and that he realized a lot.

I always loved him with the love of God and the way one should love their significant other. He, on the other hand, did not. When we were together, everything was perfect, then he would get around his family and he would become this emotionless monster. Needless to say, after we reconnected, everything was perfect. Then about a month into it, the old self came back.

Feeling stuck, I turned to God after a week of the "old self". This is when I had this dream:

"I went down to get my garbage can from the back. (I live in a 3 story house that was turned into 3 apartments) Upon walking up to the garbage can I was surrounded by hundreds of snakes. They weren't really moving just sitting in piles everywhere. The snakes were brown and white and were in all different sizes. They didn't seem to mind me. Well, I easily grabbed my garbage can when this big black snake came out from underneath and began trying to attack me. I remember feeling very fearful and as I stepped back I remember feeling as if I was on the edge of a bank and was getting ready to fall over. There were piles of snakes all around me. I caught my footing and called to my ex-fiance for help. He came down and just walked aimlessly over towards the can, to which the snake followed him and stayed by him. I went to walk up to my bottom neighbors porch when the black snake began attacking me and I remember being bit three times. I kicked the snake away and made it into her apartment to which I looked at my leg only to find a small scratch and no penetration from the snake. This is when I woke up."

The setting of this dream was day time and it was sunny. The few clouds that were out were the bright white ones. I was wearing shorts and a white shirt. My ex-fiance was wearing jeans and dark blue/black shirt.

I have some thoughts as to what my dream meant, but I was wanting outside opinions too.

Thanks in advance!

Im no expert, but from what I read, it sounds like a balance between the good and bad of the relationship or energy from it. It seems like your dream was influenced by how you feel "stuck" and turned to God for an answer on what to do next. This dream could be interpreted in many different ways. The black snake that was attacking you could mean the negativity that is attached to "the old self" or the pressure you felt by his family for not being "good enough" for their standards. This could be God's way of reminding you why he decided that he wasnt a good match for you. But like I said, im no expert haha :)

They said to him, "We have had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them." And Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Please tell them to me." - Genesis 40:8

15 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it."
16 Joseph answered Pharaoh, "It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer." - Genesis 41:15-16

Despite what some may teach, dream interpretation is a gift, and you can't teach it.

The interpretation of a dream belongs to the Lord.

The Lord can and does use dreams to communicate with people, pagan or redeemed.

I pray the Lord gives you full understanding of your dream and its meaning, which you probably already have a good idea about, but also that you choose wisely based on what God has revealed to us in his written word as well, which never leads a person astray.

Blessings!

Travis

You need no interpretation. You already knew it, but just wanted others to confirm it. Trust in the Lord's leading. It is better to trust in God than to trust in man.
