I would like to ask of those moved to share what your thoughts are on dreams in a spiritual context. I have heard opinions that cover the spectrum from an access point for the forces of darkness to branches of "church" (brick and mortar/doctrine not body of christ) devoting entire development of dream interpretation for spiritual growth?

I will say that in recent weeks as I have been thinking more and more about the aspect of my walk with Christ that deals with the opening of spiritaul senses I seem to have more dreams...however...they are neither grounded in truth or revelation in fact if anything they are more "bad". Conversly several months ago I remeber waking and thinking I may have reached a spiritaul benchmark because in a dream I had the presence of mind to call on Christ in a bad situation and thought (now in a consious state) " Wow how cool was that, that infused into my new self I know to align myself with the Spirit even in my foggy dream rationale."

Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

If you have a dream from God, the lord will conform it, if it was from him. How does he show you? by his word or other saints with the gift of interpretation... like the prophet Daniel, or they may say something to you that conforms the dream without them even knowing you had one.

This is called the gift of prophecy, you are able by the spirit to tell men what it is they are thinking, or their heart thoughts, according to Paul it is the best gift of the edifying ones. Also the dream may be almost like you are awake but not. Either way be carefull with dreams, make sure God conforms it, so im saying pray about it. Also sometimes theres no denying it was from God...but still test it with the word.

God bless

cuprunsovr,
A long time ago I had a dream of sorts , except I could hear everything , like the TV, but I could not move or speak. The horrible part was that I had a feeling that there was something evil that I did not want to see . I was panicked and all at once I was saying in my head the Lords prayer. It worked and I came fully awake. I was a little shaken , but at peace knowing God was there and heard me pray.

I am so happy for you!

You are entering into a place of intimacy with your Father! A place where he shares his thoughts with you and confides in you (See Psalm 24 or 25?? "The Lord confides in those who fear him...I think that is from the NIV)

I also understand the strangeness of it all - especially if you are used to only hearing God through your Bible and have a strong rational side to your personality.

God created humanity. He created people with an "imagination" or image centre - a place where you can see images without your eyes. Western culture has really tried to suppress the imagination and spiritual senses since the rise of science and rational thought. We are "trained" to ignore our spiritual receptivity and just go with the facts, for we mistakenly believe that facts are more reliable than our spiritual senses, yet God created us with an imagination and its purpose, according to the Bible (God communicates through dreams all through the Old and New Testaments), is to be a means that he communicates with us.

Another problem with out image centre, is that we are typically quite accustomed to polluting it. We can fill it with images of hate, violence, crime, fornication and all kinds of lusts etc., therefore we will do well to cleanse our imagination.

Ask God for a cleansing of all the sin and filth that has found its way into your imagination.

Fill your imagination with the many dreams and visions recorded in the Bible. Meditate on them, ask God for insight into them - understanding.

This is something that God is initiating with you, so you can feel confident that he will continue to teach you and keep you safe. There is no safer place than close to your Father.

You may also want to learn from others who have had more experience with the way God has spoken to them through dreams. There are many excellent resources around and I will list some at the end of this reply. Learning from others who have experience is only seeking out teachers - one of the gifts that God gave to the church in Eph. 5.

Anyway, my time is up, so I have to run,

here is a book: Parables in the Night Season by Joy Parrott

Feel free to PM me if you would like some web resources.

Have fun, and blessed dreaming!
