Prophecies of The Multitude and the Remnant Toward the End of the Age

Jeremiah 50:6 "My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace."

"And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. " Daniel 12: 7

Scattering the power of the holy people does not just mean the holy people are scattered over the world. It means their spiritual power is diminished. This is the falling away of II Thessalonians 2: 3-7 caused by the many false prophets seen in Matthew 24: 5, 11 and in II Peter 2: 1-3.

The multitude, who claim to be Christians, are deceived by false prophets, lose their spiritual power and fall away from sound doctrine. But the Lord calls some of them back.

Isaiah 27:13 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem."

Hebrews 12:22 " But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,"

Revelation 14: 1: "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. "

Zechariah 8:23 "Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you."

Those taught under dispensationalism will see "Jew" in Zechariah 8: 23 as being literal, that is a physical Jew, who is one because of his physical genetics from Abraham. But seen through Romans 2: 17-19, 28-29, and Romans 9: 6-8, this "Jew" is one reborn in Jesus Christ, who is of the spiritual house and holy priesthood of I Peter 2: 5-9. This "Jew," when part of the remnant, is able to teach understanding to those without the knowledge of the truth.

God gathers his remnant, the elect, from all over the earth.

Revelation 21:2 "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. "

The New Jerusalem is being formed on earth by people still in the flesh, though the complete fulfillment of it will be after the Resurrection of I Corinthians 15: 51-54.

Out of Sion comes the Deliverer, the Redeemer, who redeemed the lost sheep of the house of Israel (Matthew 15: 24), seen in Romans 11: 1-5, where a remnant of Old Covenant Israel was saved according to the election of grace. Christ's mission to the lost sheep of the house of Israel was fulfilled in the remnant of Romans 11: 1-5. To insist that he failed to redeem the lost sheep of Israel is to diminish the finished work of Christ on the Cross.

Romans 11:26: "And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:"

Romans 11: 26 is a prophecy saying that all those who are the elect are of Israel reborn in Christ who will be saved, where reborn Israel is seen in I Peter 2: 5 as a spiritual house and holy priesthood and in I Peter 2: 9 as a chosen generation.

Revelation 12: 17 : "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

The remnant, toward the end of the age, will teach the testimony of Jesus Christ to the multitude in the church system, and some will believe it and become themselves part of the remnant.

Daniel 11: 33-35: "And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed."

The remnant who have the testimony of Jesus Christ try to teach the multitude the truth in Joel's Valley of Decision toward the end of the age.

"Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining." Joel 3: 13-15

"And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." Daniel 12: 3

Hello Tulsa.

The 'New Jerusalem' has physical dimensions Tulsa, this new city also has physical characteristics.

Revelations 21
15 The one who spoke with me had a gold measuring rod, fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal.

How does your theology interpret this?

C. I. Scofield claimed that "Not one instance exists of a 'spiritual' or figurative fulfilment of prophecy... Jerusalem is always Jerusalem, Israel is always Israel, Zion is always Zion... Prophecies may never be spiritualised, but are always literal." C.I. Scofield, Scofield Bible Correspondence Course (Chicago, Moody Bible Institute), pp. 45-46.

The answer of many followers of Scofield is that they do not follow Scofield - which sets up an invitation to almost endless quarreling.
