Love Your Enemies

MATTHEW 5:44 NKJ
44-But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse
you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who
spitefully use you and persecute you,

Love your enemies? What kind of advice is that? How can you
have enemies, if you act in love toward them?


Why would anyone want to have enemies? Do you?

God's instructions, if acted upon, will make friends out of
enemies. Think how much better the world would be then.

God can, and does, love His enemies. He proved it. No matter
what they did to Jesus, He never quit walking in love.

But it may be impossible for a normal human to love their
enemies without God's help. Fortunately, God's help is
available!

No matter how hard it seems, you can love those who have hurt
you. If it was not possible, God would not command us to do it.
Of course, to be successful at it, we need to call on the Lord
and receive His help.

[But why should I love my enemies?] You should know it is the
best thing for you to do, just because God said it. It benefits
you as well as the one who wronged you.

You have two basic choices when someone does you wrong. Do
wrong back to them. Or, return good for evil.

If you fight back, then they will have a valid excuse to
continue mistreating you. Is that what you want? If not, then
the intelligent choice is to stop the vicious cycle by
returning good for evil. Love your enemies until they become
your friends.

Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." [ Some early manuscripts do not have this sentence.] And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Now Jesus said this on the Cross, nails pierced in his hands and feet. Talk about love and forgiveness while even He was dying on Calvary!

That's true Brother. Many times evil is stopped by love. That's the only way to do it. It changes bullies and all the mean, cruel, evil people out there. that's why at first they hate ur guts, but it does change them, even if they dont want to admit it. God bless you all

That's absolutely true. We can not truly forgive or love our enemies without Christ's help. As he rises up in us we can truly love and forgive those who hate us. You may be surprised at how many of your "religious" friends will turn their backs on you when you totally sell out to Jesus and don't live according to this world. Jesus said "Remember if the world hates you they hated me first."

I wish to bump this thread as a reminder that although many here have come and gone . We should keep all who touched our live's at talkjesus and offer our prayers for Gods love and grace to be with them in all they are doing .

I pray for peace and forgiveness for all of Gods children through out the whole world . May the great harvest be loosed upon all mankind and the Spirit of Salvation be swift as a mighty wind gathering all Gods Children together as we wait upon Christ soon return for his chosen body .

Let us be ready at all times , for no man knows when the day of the Lord will come . Let's cleanse our hearts of all unforgivness , knowing had it not been for the mercy of our Father , we too would perish and be sentenced to the pit .

Lift up the name of Jesus Christ ! Within ourselves we are as filthy rags before Gods Holy Throne ! We ask you Jesus to take your place within our hearts , and dwell among us as we worship you in humility , and thanksgiving !

Thank you oh blameless Jesus , for taking our sins upon yourself , and setting us free ! We have nothing to offer you but ourselves . Use us as you wish , to bring Glory to your Father in Heaven as we wait in fear and trembling before your awesome face that is shining with the brightness of your Glory ! Amen . Mike

Love, love, LOVE. That is the key. We love those that hate us and do good unto them, shower them with love and soon they have to come around. For who can hate you when you show them so much love. Everyone likes to be loved, and they will lap it up like honey. :thumbs_up
