Euthanasia and suicide

Euthanasia and suicide are also acts of violence, because, they destroy human lives. They, therefore, cannot bring peace. Some people choose them, because, they feel hopeless or want to end their pain and suffering. However, irrespective of how bad our situation is, we can always find hope, because, God loves us; and there is no greater joy, than to be loved by God. Because of this, even in the midst of pain and suffering we can rejoice, and know that as long as we allow God to be in our heart, in the end, we will be free of all pain and suffering. Furthermore, we can give our pain and suffering redemptive value by quietly accepting it as a sacrifice on behalf of others, so that they will find peace and joy by being freed of selfishness. When we accept it as a sacrifice for others, we are accepting it in love. In other words we are accepting God’s help on their behalf. In addition, pain and suffering accepted in this spirit brings us endurance, endurance brings us virtue and virtue brings us hope. Many people feel that to live with pain, suffering and severe disabilities is undignified. However, our true dignity comes from God's love for us, and His life in us; and not from our social, economic or health status. Furthermore, human beings who are terminally ill or totally disabled, are also contributors to the society, because, they bring out the spirit of love in the people who take care of them. This enriches the society by making it more compassionate and caring.

That is all very well.......

But would you want to see a member of ur family suffer from cancer. motorone disease in pain??
Would you denie a member of your family their "rights" if they made a will whereby they had requested NOT to be revived?
Would u breach that legally binding document?

THese are questions, not to offend but to take a braoder view of the subject rather than just one view.

If u were to create a law where, u eased the suffering.....

What would that law be??

My mother took years to die from strokes, but we wouldn't have wanted to take her life, a life belonging to Jesus. We cannot presume to end life no matter how hard it is to live. Where does it end? Euthanasia is the thin end of a dangerous, Godless wedge with no going back. Palliative care is the only way.

I am not sure where I personally stand on the issue, but I will say in defense of Euthanasia that the story of Samson rings a bell. The guy was blinded, living in horrible agony, and effectively God gave him the strength to kill himself.
Obviously that was not the only reason for the suicide, but it definitly was suicide, and one could argue that at least partly it was because of Samson's condition. I am not advocating suicide by any means, but I think that you could biblicaly argue against keeping someone drugged and hardly alive who can no longer even serve the Lord.

My father sat with both my grandfathers when they were dying and watched them die a horrible painfull death. After years of suffering they death was more painfull then those years they had already gone through. I am torn on this as i know my grandfather begged my father to end his life. It destroyed my father to have to hear that and sit powerless just watching.
I belive God has a plan for all of us including how we die.
I do belive that if someone is dying they have the right to refuse to be bought back by doctors.
My grandmother asked not to be revived and we respected her wishes she died with a smile on her face.
Sometimes we are selfish as we think of the hurt their death will cause us to feel. Instead of allowing them to die naturally we intervene and prolong there suffering.
