I just wanted to point out something. No where in Genesis 3 does it say it was an apple. It says "fruit."
Genesis 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
Somewhere along the way...someone said 'apple' and it has stuck, but the Bible only says 'fruit' not 'apple.'
We can speculate what might have happened, but there really is no point. We can't go back and change it. And personally, I believe God wanted us to always 'walk in the cool of the day' with Him. Humans have messed up God's plan time and again. Do you truly believe God wanted us separated from Him? I don't think so. But He didn't want puppets that did His will, were forced to it. He wanted us to WANT to do His will.
All throughout history God has been calling us to Him...beckoning us to come to Him. But more times than not, we do our own thing. We think we are SOOOO intelligent, but we aren't. We're like a dog...we go back to the sin that keeps us in bondage! And it doesn't have to be that way!
Okay I think I'm done...for now
It is quite easy to know what would have happened if Adam and Eve hadn't sinned. Read Revelation 21,22 and see Eden restored. This is what God planned all along. Harmonious relationship between God and His creation in a perfect environment, with the earth being the capital of the universe.
Although God had made plans for man's rebellion, (the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world) and although He foresaw the sad fall, it was not in any way God's intention that this would happen. Knowing they would fall did not in any way take away from Adam and Eve their power of choice.
