Christians are fabulously rich in the things that matter. They may not all be millionaires, but they are heirs to millions. They may not be burdened with bullion, but they are daily loaded with blessings.
We are rich in emotional experience...... When God forgave our sins He rid us of the hurt of a guilty conscience. The burden of regret is gone: in its place is that sense of release and delight in living which the bible calls "peace and joy in the Holy Ghost"
We are rich in fellowship..... Whatever may be the faults of the Christian Church - and it has many - one thing remains, it is the most widespread and deeply rooted "Friendy Society" on earth. The name of Jesus links many civilsations, cultures and classes. "Hallelujah"! is its password from the equator to the poles. With God as its Father, the whole body of believers - in spite of sect and denomination - is one world family.
We are rich in literature...... Apart from the mass of books compiled by saints and seer's through the Christian centuries, we are particularly blessed with one book that surpasses all - the Bible. What a treasure it is! In the light of its pages we can unlock the past, understand the present, and unveil the future. It is a guide to victorious living, a liturgy for private and public devotions, a compendium of inspiring biographies, a thesaurus of delightful poetry. But above all it is a revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ, whose Spirit pervades it from the first word to the last.
We become enriched in character...... Starting with a climactic experience known as the New Birth., the Christian goes on to "grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ" until life is rich in moral beauty, noble and serene. A mans greatest asset is what he is: Christianity gives us a better self, a maturer self, a satisfying self.
We are rich in expectations...... As rabbi Ben Ezra said...."the best is yet to be""eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for those who love Him"
1Cor 2:9
"Certainly it doth not yet appear what we shall be" but we know that in the day of our Kings Coronation we shall share His glories and reign with Him for ever and ever.
Christians are rich. But our source of wealth is not in ourselves, but in the Lord. " For ye know the grace of our LOrd Jesus Christ that, though He was rich yet for our sakes He became poor.......that we through His poverty might be rich" 2Cor8:9
Blessed Jesus....Thy coming has ended our soul poverty and made us rich unto Salvation.
