I had a mother and a father
And two sisters and two brothers.
And then my parents left this world,
A sister followed them unfurled,
A brother passed; another world.
I have a sister and a brother,
Each their own person, like no other.
Each one special in their own way,
They like to sing, they like to play,
Just like the two who went away.
I have a husband, and have children four,
They got married, and they gave us more.
Now fourteen grandkids and plus two, to date,
To have much more, yes we will have to wait,
A great-grand soon is to arrive, not late.
I love my family and our special times,
We’re all different, not all of same mind,
Yet we have things we have in common, too,
Like memories of our times together –
Old and new, through and through, stick like glue.
The bond of family can’t replicate,
People who lived together, were roommates.
Shared their meals together, friendships, too,
Sometimes fighting each other ‘til turned blue,
Sometimes loving on one another, too.
The family of God, not much different. How?
We all have the same Father, we avow.
Times we spend together to connect,
Be like brothers, sisters, no regrets,
Give to God our Father our respect.
Love on one another, for each care,
Join in unity and in group prayer.
Be concerned for others, with them share
Words of gratitude, to them declare
Love of Christ for us whose cross we bear.
