feeling let down and hurt

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on here for awhile so please bare with me. Ive recently started a new job. I was asked to come and chef at a new cafe. My friend that asked me is a christian lady, since starting i have seen and heard nothing but lies and deceit. Everything she does is for her own financial and personal gain. I don't trust her or anything that comes out of her mouth. I'm doing what I love to do and that is working with food. I feel really insecure as I don't know what this lady is capable of. She undermines my capabilities in front of me and others.
we pray each morning but as the day goes on I see these things and think why do we pray. Feeling really discouraged. Some of you may be thinking leave and get another job, but because i live in a small community there isn't much work available.

It sounds like a terrible situation you are in. Sometimes we need to hold up under insult and, with long suffering and grace, bring change in our circumstances by showing kindness to the attacker. You seem to be really upset about this though, and it probably would be a good idea to talk to your friend and make your grievance known. Pray for the right words and without anger discuss the situation and clear the air. Christians should be able to come to peace.

Its really difficult when someone who professes to be a Christian shows characteristics that are in opposition to that profession. I've had a little experience of that lately, and it really threw me and made me feel very uncomfortable. .We are not to be judgemental, but when that happens i think its natural to wonder what is going on and it may be that this person hasn't known the Holy Spirit yet and just has some knowledge of Christianity through church but only the Lord really knows what is happening, or what has happened.

I pray for wisdom for you. It may be part of God's plan that you are a light to this person showing them what it means to follow Christ with your heart. I read a book lately called Grace Outpouring about praying for others, and i think as this is happening to you, that you will need to really guard your heart and focus on keeping your heart right with the Lord by forgiving each incident that happens and praying blessing over this person.

By working with this person, you are given insight into their character and are able to intercede for them. I encourage you to see that as part of your mission, if you like, as you are there ... to lift them up in prayer before our Heavenly Father and also to pray that He would strengthen you in your inner being by His Holy Spirit.

This is difficult but you do have options, you can always leave.


I know that is eaiser said than done but, as it usually turns out, things are in your control:

• You can leave
• You can stay and hope things improve. Pray about it and just make the best decision possible. I know this, for me, there is no coincidents in life. Maybe you are there to learn how not to act as a Christian, maybe you are there to be an example.
• If it gets to bad and you are contemplating leaving, I suggest you arrange a time to sit down with your friend and talk to her about the situation, do it away from work..invite her to go out some evening. Who knows, maybe her actions is her way of reaching out for help, maybe she is struggling with her faith and you are there to help.

Regardless, God does not expect you to stay in a negative situation with no hope. On the other hand, maybe this is a growth opportunity for you. How do other employees feel..maybe you are there for them as well.

I pray that things work out for you and you can see God's will in all this!

hi smitties!! BE SHREWD!!!! Matt 10:16 I know what you mean,and like Agua said and Halva and RJ!! All 3 are very correct!! What I used to do,is ask them questions, like " You know I have this very good friend of mine,I wonder if you can help me with the problem I am having with them!! LOL You know it is really the person YOU are talking to!

But you do not tell them that,then tell them how much you care for this person,and how do you think I can help them!! The eyes may get a little wide,but you are making your point without hurting the feeling of the person,who needs a good slap in the Lord!! LOL I have found this has worked very well,People LOVE!!! to be confided in!

And by doing this,you will give that person perhaps something for themselves to think about. And yes,business is business!! The World is the World,but you have been put there to show them the difference between the world,which cannot be trusted and Jesus in you!! who can be!! Do not worry or fret!!

Break the pitcher within you sister, ( Judges 7:16-25)and be the Light of Jesus you always have been!! and!! always will be!! amen!
