Feeling Rejected?

Meeting folks that have been abused, I have learned that the memories linger over the years. Anger also, because some who could, ......offered no help.

"No one looked on you with pity........you were thrown out into the open field" Ez. 16:5 NIV

To be rejected in private is bad, To suffer such in public can lead to feelings of vulnerability, and feeling of worthlessness. We could say "Well if they don't think I am worth anything.....then maybe perhaps I am not".

Listen, and listen carefully. Never allow another person's opinion of you determine your opinion of yourself! If some do not value your worth...that is there problem,...not yours.

If people reject you, (and I too have been rejected), such people have bought into a lie. They reject because they don't see the ability within you, they do not hear the meaning of your words, or feel the quality of your touch. They have accepted a lie........make absolutely sure that you dont accept, take it to heart, also.

Learn to care for yourself, and to protect yourself. Then you will be able to care for others,.... out of the well, of your own self esteem.

Most abusers...I am told, hate themselves. It overflows to those nearest. Paul said "He who loves his wife, loves himself" Eph 5:28

But what if such man doesn't love himself? Here is the answer "Then I passed by and saw you....." Ez. 16:6 God sees you. He loves you. He has a plan for your life.

If today you can accept that.......your healing has begun.

Feeling rejected and being made invinsible( that we don't exist ) is horrible . Yes you are right ! We feel that way because we allow them to affect us .We should never allow
people' s opinions to be our opinions of ourselves.

Everyone of us as Christians will have times that we will feel like we are rejected.
At times it's hard to figure out the times in our lives.
Like Solomon a time to for this and that and so forth.
At times I feel like I'm being put on the shelf and I ask "how come God I'm not able to use the talents that you have given me?
How come ones much younger in the Lord than I get asked to do certain things and I feel I'm just overlooked?

You touched the core of the biggest problem of many Christians inability to grow and become what God predestined for them to be.

Rejection is devastating and can break the spirit of the strongest person.

I just want to add that we, meaning all of us, must be very careful how and what we say to others. Talking before thinking can result in a person feeling rejected and that is why we must always pray before saying something that might hurt and we must also say everything with a heart filled with love.

Never speak when angry it can break a relationship faster than lighting and hurt another very badly.

If we ourselves feel rejected the first thing we must do is to forgive, whether we feel like it or not, or we ourselves will suffer devastating consequenses.

This is a very important subject, thanks for posting.

Those words are so true.

It is so easy to be influenced by what others say. Unfortunately there are some people who voice their opinions of others in a negative way. I have always thought this process, " Look at the log in one's own eye, before looking at the speck and faults of others." Constructive, honest opinions of others that improve their self esteem is good, but the voicing of negative opinions about others will in most cases cause conflict and disharmony.


What is your opinion, do you think it is in human nature to sometimes talk negatively of others. I sometimes see this happen in workplaces and sometimes in churches as well. I think it has all to do with our sinful natures, as this type of behaviour does not come from God.

You are correct. "The heart is deceiteful above all things, and desperately wicked, who can know it".....Wow.."who can know it"

That indicates that the human heart is so vile so reprobate, so murderous in its intent..........

Only the Lord Jesus can help. "Salvation is of the Lord" "Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world"

That is the reason why we have to rise up, above the insult, above the criticism, above the rejection.......above all that would bind and hold back. Because it is from hell, from the sinful nature.

"Look unto me and be saved.........." says the Lord


Jesus came to bring Salvation........and deliverance from all bondage and fear.

Just a day or two ago, we had another young man (19 yrs old) go over the edge in this country. After leaving a suicide note saying that he didn't want to be a bother to anyone anymore, he took an assault rifle into a shopping mall in Omaha, Nebraska and killed eight people before killing himself.

I keep asking myself, wasn't there anyone to be a Good Samaritan to this young man as he lay sorely wounded in an emotional ditch? Was there no one who saw him bleeding from the heart?

Christians are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world, like the Good Samaritan. If we move about in society to any extent at all, we are bound to encounter emotionally wounded people lying helpless and hopeless by the side of the road. We must take our focus off ourselves so we can see these people with our hearts as well as with our eyes.

As we learn to take our eyes off ourselves and have the depth of compassion that drives us to action on behalf of others, we will find ourselves making a difference in our communities, a big difference. And thus, we will find the true purpose of our lives.

".....whatever you did for the least of these, my brothers, you did also for me." (Mt 25:40)
