Feeling so low

I feel so worthless and so lonely everyday seems to be getting harder
 
Dearest sister

You may feel that way as the enemy loves to tell us thes things but remember he is the father of all lies.

The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy BUT I have come that they may have LIFE and LIFE ABUNDANTLY. John 10.10

You need to get into the Word of God which is living and active and sharper than a 2 edged sword. Hebrews 4 .12.

We are worthy because of JESUS He died for you to give you everlasting life.

We have choices each day. We can choose to be happy or miserable.

I want to please my heavenly Father and therefore need to follow the greatest commandments: To love the Lord my God with all my heart all my soul and all my strength and to love my neighbour as myself.

Psalm 139 would be a good one to read, also Psalm 100.

This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Thank you Jesus that I can get out and be Your hands and feet to others.

We need to develop an attitude of gratitude too.

We can chat later when I am back home if you want to talk again.

Just to add, you need to think spiritally, we are fighting a spiritual battle and the only person who can do that is, Jesus, that's what he came here for us. To take all our sins away and beat the devil on our behalf and believe in him.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

It takes and lot of practice, but go to prayer and speak to the Father, ask Him to give you strength and ask Jesus to take care of the battle for you and then believe that he has taken care of it.

I think most of us want to fight the battle ourselves, I made the same mistake, thinking I could take care of it with my own efforts. Jesus has done that for you already. Go to him and he will give you rest. It's all about believing, believe it and it will happen.

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

You can never be lonely, when you have God and Jesus in your life. Spend some more time in getting to know them in prayer or just sitting in chair with your Bible speaking out loud to them. And a whole new world will open up for you. :love:

This is what i do when i feel low

Hi Dovedale,

You have just taken the right step towards overcoming your negative feelings,TJ is just the right place for you.

Now this is what i do when i feel low,i apply the principle of confession is possesion,and i start claiming the relevant verses for myself loudly,e.g

psalms 23:1-2 The Lord is my shepherd ,i shall fear no evil,

Psalms 51: Lord restore the joy of my salvation.

My enemies will attack in one way but will scatter in seven ways(paraphrased)

Nehemiah :-The joy of the LOrd is my strenghth

Psalms 58 :- The righteousness of God goes ahead of me and his Glory is my rear guard

Psalms 56:11 :- In God have i put my trust,i will not fear,what can man do to me?

I tell you Dovedale it WORKS! Because God said his word will not go forth in vain but it must accomplish its purpose.

Having peace is your right,so do not let the devil take it,Jesus said:- my peace have i left with you.

Arm yourself with verses to fight such feelings always and they will flee from you with time.Nehemiah told the Israelites who were building the walls of Jerusalem,:- Never put your sword down,and the sword for your fights is the word.

We have some of those low days but God is faithful. Knowing that His mercies are new every morning helps share us up. But you need to know that it is ok to feel bad but don't stay there the Joy of the Lord is our strangth even when it son't feel that way. Tell God how you feel the word says "Cast your burden on Him cause He cares for you. "

Take everyday one day at a time for God has never left or will He ever forsake us. Whenever you need to talk don't hesistate we are hear to mend the brokenhearted. We are our brothers keeper and no matter what you are going through God is Able and He Won't Fail. My Favorite Scripture is Romans 8:28 and it says " And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,who have been called according to his purpose. "

Sister this too will pass cause it came to pass and know that whatever it is it is for you Good and God is working it out and Coming Strong on Your Behalf. For He will show Himself Strong.

from another who has at times felt utterly worthless...

Hi,

firstly, why do you feel worthless?

Can I share with you two, no, three things?

Our wonderful Lord made all this beautiful creation. There are many Psalms that remind us of this (read them...you'll find them!).As child of God, you like gardening...what a beautiful blessing you are to the King! Yes you!

The same glorious Lord made all the animals and you'll find reference in the Psalms about animals too, and now let me assure you that you are again a blessing to Him who loves you.

There are so many people who have no time for God's creation, some even get so tied up in biblical things and forget the testimony of creation. You, my friend return to God some of His love and splendour when you spend your precious time occupied with what he has so lovingly given to us to enjoy. As a father of 11, I know the intimate joy of appreciation given by my children, and I can not put value to it. How much more our Father values your pleasure in the works of His holy hands!

And, thirdly, imagine if you can, it is quite awesome, the value of the blood of Jesus His Son to the Father.....

this is how much you are worth!!!

My blessing to you this Easter,
that you come to know the fullness of your worth in the eyes and heart of the Lord.

and to finish, with Him you are never alone, I for one am with you in Him, just as He Himself is always with you, dear, dear friend! Ask Jesus into your tender lonely heart, to be always your Lord, Saviour and friend.

Do not let the enemy in because He who is in you is greater than he that is in the world. 1 John 4.4.

Jesus gives us freewill we have choices to make each day. We can choose to be happy or miserable to be positive or negative.

I have learnt to develop an attitude of gratitude.

Look at how much Jesus suffered for you to give you eternal life.

Jesus promised He would never leave us or forsake us. Heb.13.5

I am currently experiencing pain but I am not letting it get the better of me. I am going to praise Jesus no matter what. He is worthy to be praised.

In this life we will have trials and tribulations and suffering but Jesus is with us through everything.

Peace and Joy

We cannot live by our feelings but need to live by faith and not by sight.

Stay at home if you do not want to go out but enjoy God's presence right there with you. Get into His Word and let it speak to you. Read some Psalms of David as he always finishes with praise.

We enter His gates with thanksgiving and enter His courts with praise for this is the day the Lord has made, we WILL rejoice and be GLAD in it. Psalm 100. 4. That is a good Psalm to read actually so is Psalm 103.

When our Lord Jesus was departing from this World he said; "My peace have i left with you,so have peace and have it to the full."

Therefore do not allow yourself to lose your peace.Take it by force.

Do not wish things away,change them by prayer,do not expect an overnight miracle,but pray without ceasing,until something happens.

Talk yourself out of fear,remind yourself everyday as you get out of the house," for i have not been given the spirit of fear ,but of power,love and a stable mind "

Take the first step and God will do the rest.

Hello there Dovedale, You have received some loving replies and wonderful scriptures.
I am sorry that you feel so low. We all can have low times, I certainly have had them, but not so much now, as I recognise the symptoms of a depressive mood and so over the years I have learned that I can either decide to carry on going deeper into darkness or grab on to the lifeline of hope offered by Jesus. He is the answer to all our needs.

I read your profile and you said you want to get closer to God. To get closer to God, we need to get to know Jesus and having a relationship with Him, by putting our faith and trust in Him, He is the only one who can heal and restore us.

Things can be different. They really can. Sometimes just changing our attitude towards a situation, makes the difference.

I too have challenges, many of mine are physical, I focus on the things I can do about my situation, rather on the things I cannot do.

I do not want to undermine your feelings of depression, I know it can be difficult, sometimes it is easier said than done. But we must get up and fight, and if necessary ask for help. There is a choice to be made.

This scripture is a goal worth aiming for, and something I am practicing myself. To be content in any situation, to trust and rely on Jesus Christ to satisfy all our needs, and I have to tell you our lives become a whole lot better to manage when we decide to do this. It takes practice, and a determination, Paul says 'I have learned the secret....', so it is something we must learn, it isn't an overnight thing. We may fail often, but the result of contentment is worth fighting for.

Philippians 4:12-13 "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do everything through Him who gives me strength"

I will pray for you dear one, I hope you carry on coming to TJ and you will receive love and encouragement from many.

Dear sister dove

Please do not go by your feelings they are up and down like a yo yo. You need to focus on who you are in Christ. We are told to renew our minds and that means exchanging wrong thoughts with right ones. What God says in the Bible is true and needs to be hidden deep in our hearts so that we can use them when we need them.

Greetings sister. Not sure what is causing you to feel low, what factors in your life and / or circumstances. I hope the below Scripture will help you.

Luke 6:22-24

22 Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.

Psalm 17:5-7

5 Uphold my steps in Your paths,
That my footsteps may not slip.

6 I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God;
Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.
7 Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand,
O You who save those who trust in You
From those who rise up against them.

Psalm 86:4-6

4 Rejoice the soul of Your servant,
For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
5 For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer;
And attend to the voice of my supplications.

Psalm 56:3-5

3 Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
4 In God (I will praise His word),
In God I have put my trust;
I will not fear.
What can flesh do to me?

5 All day they twist my words;
All their thoughts are against me for evil.
 
These are a few from Psalms which I find encouraging and I pray these will help you to know the Lord is with You and He will help you

Psalm 62:5-8
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
My hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation
He is my fortress, I shall not be shaken.
My salvation and my honour depend on God;
He is my mighty rock, my refuge,
Trust in Him at all times O people,
Pour out your hearts to Him
for God is our refuge.

Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the broken hearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit

Psalm 145 (various verses)
The Lord is gracious and compassionate
Slow to anger and rich in love
The Lord is good to all
He has compassion on all He has made
The Lord is faithful to all his promises
and loving towards all He has made
The Lord upholds all those who fall
And lifts up all who are bowed down,
The eyes of all look to you
And you give them their food at the proper time.
You open your hand
and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
The Lord is near to all who call on him
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him
He hears their cry and saves them.

Psalm 147:3
He heals the broken-hearted
and binds up their wounds.

Hallo Dovedale,

Once in my life I had a terrible addiction and I really despised it and myself. No matter how much I wanted to be free of it, I could not shake it. I was a born again Christian and had taken the wrong turn and fallen deep into years of very heavy drinking (as well as other substance abuse). I knew what I was doing was wrong, which made me drink more, and it was normal to finish off the day/night with a large bottle of overproof rum, after a lot of beer drinking and what ever else came my way. I was a mess, and knew it.
How could I be a Christian? What sort of wittness was I to the saving grace of God in Jesus Christ? I hated myself and was so depressed by my habit(s).

I prayed and prayed and prayed....usually drunk. I was not proud at all, but rather, weak, as I could not say NO!

To this day, I do not know what happened, but one day, I was drinking and then I realised that I hadn't opened the next can of beer...and I didn't have the slightest urge to....AND, to this day I have never had an urge to drink any alcohol at all. As I said, I don't know what happened, but I strongly believe that someone was praying for me.

Something happened that day, and it was more than being healed of alcoholism. I was restored to the dignity of Christ. I was able to have my life back again. I was no longer feeling down. I have never experienced the feeling of torment about being drunk when I knew I shouldn't be...remember, I was a Christian. I had received many blessings from our Lord, including healing and deliverance from a multitude of habits and sins. So, when Jesus took me up into His bosom and set me free from drinking, He also restored me.

I have seen the same thing happen to others, and we read about His grace in the New testament, where men and women have been given their life, His life, and have been healed in more than one way.

The most common symptom for all who need His touch, His power , is, the feeling of depression, because all the sicknesses rob us from an abundant life, and keep our eyes on anything but Jesus. So when we see Him coming, call out, yell if you must, grab hold of His garment, anything, just don't lose sight of the Lord.

Dovedale, my friend, I was weak, but He was/is strong. One thing He has shown me is how weak I am, and not to depend on my own strength or efforts, but to trust only in Him. I know you have been having a hard time with something, and you have been getting down. Just look to Jesus...He is reaching out to you. Do not do as I did and look at my own miserable lot, but, Dovedale, look unto Jesus. Please my friend, look to Him, cry to Him, trust in Him. Whatever it is that brings you low, is not too hard for the Lord.

I am totally persuaded that since the Lord helped me and restored me, a vile mess, He can and will do the same for you, and much more!

And, because I believe that someone was praying for me, I have been praying for you and will continue to do so. You are very precious and much loved...the Lord has beautiful things planned for you, Dovedale.

Rest in Him.

Jesus Christ is Lord! He looks beyond what we see.

As I said before, expect the blessing of the Lord....it's coming!

Bless you, and may every day bring you a rejoicing that you never had before, and may you be totally set free from all that keeps you from the fullness of Life in Jesus Christ the Lord.

If God is real where is he now when im so low and in need of knowing there is someone there who cares?
 
Sister, GOD is beside you. Have you called out ot Him in Jesus' name, faithfully? Faith is necessary, otherwise without faith GOD cannot respond to you when you do not believe He is real.
