I will be praying for you. Check out Dave Ramsey's website and/or look for his stuff in the library. He is a Christian who came out of just such circumstances and has a lot of wisdom on the subject.

Hello Everyone,

It is interesting to see or hear people's responses to those in great need. When God hears "I will be praying for you, or check out information to help you", etc., what He hears is that the other person seeks to judge or to refuse to help the person in need.

Time and time again, we see, especially in the US or affluent cities, people's refusal to help those in need, all the while excusing and justifying their beliefs.

There are so many Scriptures to support these views.

Most people who mention their needs, especially fellow Believers, are sincere and honest requests.

It used to be, in America, that Christians were different.

If I could in any way, I would send cash to this person in need, that is the way of Jesus. But I literally cannot at this time. I have been a committed Christian for 30 years, and am a true minister of the Gospel.

Thank you for your time.

That is a ridiculous statement. Judging people who you do not know and have no understanding of their own situations is simple foolishness.

Its foolish to send money to people/organizations that you know nothing about. Anybody can sign on to a website and say they are a christian having serious financial problems. A lot of people aren't who they pretrend to be online.

So saying "i'm praying for you" or recommending a website or other materials is the best and safest thing to do in this circumstance.

There are a ton of ways to give money to help people if that is what God leads you to do. Personally, unless I give money to someone I know or through my church, I give things vs. money. Too many people abuse the system and will take money they were given for food or rent and go buy drugs and alcohol instead.

I agree l2l and Boanerges.

Also many people are in the same situation and so they aren't able to give.

And then there are people who will always live beyond their means no matter how much money they have.

Praying for someone is perfectly fine for the internet since we don't know the person.
What about the people in the persons neighborhood, their friends or relatives, there church, etc. Those are people face to face. There is also credit counselling and if worse comes to worse there is declaring bankruptcy.

Im not sure people should be even allowed to ask for money here. Probably it would be safest to make it against the rules. But lets not belittle those who pray for people. That is so important.

Trisha
