16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

1.) How can you look at something not seen, it can not be something done by with the physical body. Because, he just said it's not seen with the natural eyes, so it's a function of the inner man. A lot of times we identify with the flesh man, but you are also spirit. And just like there's a reality the physical man can see there is a reality that the spirit man can see. The flesh man perceives his reality by his senses and the spirit man receives knowledge of the spiritual by revelation from God.

2 Corinthians 2:9-14:

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Just because you can't see something doesn't mean there's nothing there. My first experience with that is when I was just a kid, my father took us to amusement parks and they stamped your hand so if you left the park you could get back in without paying. But, when they stamped your hand you didn't see anything until you put your hand under a light then you could see it. Just because I couldn't see the stamp didn't mean there was nothing there. But, it had to be in the light to see and the things of the spiritual it's the light of the word. Psalm 119:130 says, The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. And God can also speak to you directly, Ephesians 1:18,19 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened. God can open the eyes of your understanding to see the things of the spiritual, that's an inner seeing. Those things are realities of the spiritual, now what God shows you inside is just as real if not more real than what you see outside. Because, the scripture says that the things which are seen are temporal, subject to change and the things which are not seen are eternal, everlasting.

2.)What God says is reality in the spiritual and is not limited to the natural order of things. For example in Isaiah 7:14 God said, Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. That goes totally against what we know about reproduction. Somebody might think that's impossible, but no, once God speaks it's reality in the spiritual. Once God releases it, it is reality in the spiritual. And you have a choice to make, go with what your senses tell you or what God tells you.

For example in 2 Kings 4:38-41

And Elisha came again to Gilgal: and there was a dearth in the land; and the sons of the prophets were sitting before him: and he said unto his servant, Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets.

39 And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not.

40 So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof.

41 But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.

42 And there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat.

43 And his servitor said, What, should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the Lord, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof.

44 So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the Lord.

Notice, his servitor knew he didn't have enough for everyone to eat, but God said all shall eat. So, the situation wasn't limited to what the man had in his hands, because the man of God had a word from God. The situation was then under new order. If you can't think or see outside of the natural, you are going to be limited in receiving from God. If you are going to work with God you are going to have to think/see outside of the natural. Because, what God does is first spiritual, but in order for you to have faith in it you first have to see it with your inner man. God has to reveal it to you. A revelation which means to pull the cover off, so God shows you something that is already there, in the spiritual. And if He can show you something then it can not be impossible.

3.) If you are in a situation that seems impossible and God gives you a revelation/a word, that situation is under the authority of what God shows you because the spiritual is higher than the natural. For example in 2 Kings 7:1,2 this is when there was a great famine and the people were doing everything they could to survive. They were eating pigeon poop, boiling babies, so the king of Israel goes to see the man of God to get a word from God. Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. 2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof. In other words he didn't believe it, he didn't see any way of that happening, but what happened. You see in verse 16, And the people went out, and spoiled the tents of the Syrians. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the Lord. And what happened to the man that didn't believe, verses 17 & 18 And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate: and the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God had said, who spake when the king came down to him. 18 And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria.

4.)As impossible as it may have seemed, but if God said it that settles it. Once it's released out of his mouth it is reality, in the spiritual. And when you act on it you get the benefit of it, but never take sides against it. Take Zacharias in Luke chapter 1 for instance, verses 11-20:

11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

18 And Zacharias said unto the angel(he's about to mess up), Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

Notice, he put his focus on the wrong thing, he put his focus on the condition of his flesh and not God's word. But, Abraham did just the opposite, in Roman 4:19 it says that Abraham considered not the deadness of his body neither the deadness of Sarah's womb. He only considered what God said. Take note, why do you think the angel told him that he would be unable to speak until the day that those things shall be fulfilled, because if he would have started talking against the word he would have counted himself out. Just like that king's officer, he would have put himself in a position of not being able to receive from God what He said.

5.) Take the children of Israel for example in Deuteronomy 1:6-8 The Lord spoke to them:

6 The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

8 Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.

Now, God told them to go in and possess the land, but watch what they said Numbers 13:31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. But, God said, "Go in and possess the land," so again we have people putting the focus on the wrong thing, flesh. Except for 2 of them that had their focus on the right thing, the word as we see in Number 14:6-9:

6 And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes:

7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.

9 Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.

And you see in Numbers 14:28-30 everybody got whatever side of the word they were on--

Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:

29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward which have murmured against me.

30 Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

You can count on whenever your focus is more on flesh/physical than the word you are going to miss out on something. How you see things is important, because how you see things is how you will speak them. Like, Caleb said in Joshua 14:7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart. And how you speak it is how you will have it. Jesus said in Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Notice, the heart and mouth is connected, whatever it is full of will get in your mouth. And when it comes out you have just established something. What does Job 22:28 say, Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

6.)When you get a revelation or a word from God it's up to you to establish it. Since, God gave man dominion it's not up to him to establish it in the earth. The spirit or heart of a man is the gateway between the spiritual and the physical realm in your life. That's why Proverbs 4:23 tells us, Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Some translations says the source of life.
Notice, keep thy heart which means guard- you guard against what goes in, why, for out of it-something is going to come out and into your life.

In full context Proverbs 4:20-23:

20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

So, what are you guarding your heart against, the words that goes into it. Because, out of the abundance of it the mouth will speak. And what you speak you will bring forth into your life. But, it all starts with how you see things. Life is spiritual, life proceeds from the spiritual. Jesus said in Matthew 15:18,19--- 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. What you have inside will be seen outside. So, if you want to change what's outside you first have to change what's inside. If you keep what's inside you will keep getting the same thing outside. And even though people are most aware of the natural side of life, but actually life proceeds from the spiritual side. That's why he says, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things not seen. Because the unseen is the root of everything seen. So, the physical realm is just the fruit of the spiritual realm. So, if you want lasting change you have to do it at the root. Even in the natural if you , just deal with things on a fruit level, fruit grows back, that's when you have to keep dealing with something over and over. But, if you deal with things at the root they can't come back. So, if you want lasting change or different fruit you are going to have to deal with the unseen more than the seen, the root more than just the fruit.

It is not God's will that any should perish. And I wouldn't want to end this article without giving someone the opportunity to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. It's very easy just pray: Dear God- I know I have sinned and I now turn from them and I invite Jesus to come into my heart (Revelation 3:20). He died for my sins and you have raised him from the dead and I now confess Jesus is my Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9,10). I thank you for saving me, Amen

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Romans 5:8-10 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. [10] For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 2 Peter 3:9 King James Version 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
