I just wanted to know how you knew the Lord was calling you to preach?Did you answer right away or take time to answer the call. Thanks alot God Bless

My experience was, that I became aware that God was calling me to preach because God was giving me something to say. As I read the bible, or listened to others preaching, or talking, something would also drop into my own heart.

As I shared the thoughts I received, I found that people were blessed and encouraged. This is vital when you are a preacher.

Study, bible school, may be the next step. But my thought would be that you have to be aware, or know that a gift is there in the first place. No amount of study can replace a gift.

The bible exhorts those who minister "to wait on their ministry" That means that with bible open and prayerful spirit as you read, you wait to hear from the Lord. This can take hours. But it is the only way to hear from God, and receive something for the people.

Just my own thoughts........nothing written in stone.

God made me realize that my testimony is something to be shared and how God changed my life, He can change others the same way.

God recently put in my heart to start preaching at rehabs and I'm already trying to get some things lined up. When God tells me to do something, I try not to waste time. (most of the time!)

Preaching God's word is not a job or an obligation, but rather a privilege and opportunity to bring someone closer to Him. God has definitely done a lot in my life within the past 3 years that I've been on His path and I am rejoicing because I know this is just the beginning of His goodness and blessings!
