If you do not forgive men their trespasses,
neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

-Matthew 6:15-

People turn on people. Crass unkindness, vicious plottings, horrible and intentional antagonisms happen, and a bad day hardly describes the extended season of a struggle many of us face at times. But there is a lesson at Calvary.
Forgive everyone-anyone-whom you think has failed you, hurt you, offended you. If you think others have done anything to ruin your life, ruin your day, ruin your opportunities, ruin your dreams, or block your goals, forgive them. Forgiving others is the key to living in the liberty of the freeing forgiveness Jesus has given to us.

with us today and always!

I read a lot of Christian based books and I cannot count the number of stories of the slight and even the deepest of hurt these believers have been victims of. But, they acted Christ like and forgave their enemies, their loved ones and whomever offended them or seriously hurt them. Some mental, some physically abusive or even sexual, some lives were lost (missionaries). You get the idea.

The burden lifted off their should after forgiving their offender(s) is replaced with a peace found only in Jesus Christ.

Let's see how serious the love of GOD was in Jesus Christ, our GOD incarnated in the flesh...
Luke 23:33-35

33 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. 34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
And they divided His garments and cast lots. 35 And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”

So here Jesus was, dying on the cross and yet, still forgiving those laughing at him, those who nailed Jesus to the cross just moments earlier.

Now, if you do not forgive everyone, do not call yourself a Christian.

Talk is cheap, but walking the lifestyle Christ walked is not easy. Does this truth lay excuses at our feet? No way. We must forgive those if we wish our Heavenly Father to forgive us.

What is forgiveness?? It doesn't mean to forget what they did (you don't let your child go to a known child molester's house alone). It doesn't mean to let it go unpunished (punishment lets us grown and learn - we must accept responsibility for our actions). It doesn't mean to make an excuse for what they did (we do not set someone up to do it again).

What forgiveness do I expect from God? LOL - the things I listed above. That is probably really unfair of me!! Maybe it means just that God will love me in spite of those sins. Like a mother loves a child EVEN THOUGH the child messes up over and over.

It's a people eat people world for sure. I deal regularly with someone whom I go out of my way for, make sure all his bills get paid, etc., even at the expense of using my own share of the money to put him first. He still finds a way to be totally unappreciative. It is a tough situation. My flesh hates what he does, but I have to have self control and let it all slide. Won't be so easy this month, he spent all his bill money...he will blame me.

He is much like a pup left alone in a house all day, then when you come home he has chewed the furniture, knocked over the garbage, pooped on the floor, tracked it everywhere. It will do no good to rub his nose in it, he has forgotten he did it, and feels justified to do as he pleases. (thank God I don't have to live with him!!)

The difference is, I can take the pup to the humane society and drop it off. Not so easy with a human being. I just have to pray and let the Lord get me though. I forgive...I just don't trust or believe anything he ever says. I try to stay a step ahead, but he out did himself this time.

A wonderful thread

If you do not forgive men their trespasses,
neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
-Matthew 6:15-

People will hurt you and abandon you. Churches leaders will hurt you and abandon you to. And your own family can turn on you as well.
But come close to your computer screen so you can hear my next statement.
Jesus will never abandon you! If he is real to you, if your born again, you will be able to lean on that real love to forgive others who have offended you. For your strength is in the spirit of God.

Zec 4:6 Then he answered and spoke unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
