Hi all, I need some help as fast as possible. I have the opportunity to debate euthanasia in my psychology class this thursday. I took the religious aspect of it and have to argue that Euthanasia should be illegal. I'm looking for information about if America was founded under Christian principles because I'm finding a lot of websites that are saying that Christian America is a myth. is this true? Are there any websites you can recommend? The other person is gunna argue that euthanasia should be legal and that religion should not be involved in this issue and will probably argue that america is not a christian nation. This is a good opportunity to bring God into the classroom. Things do have to stay factual, but I know there's gotta be a way to get some good information to present. Please help me out if you can asap, and keep me and the people in my class in your prayers. Thanks a lot!

If you need, I could get you a bunch of quotes from former presidents that affirm the United States was founded on Christian principles.

Billy is correct.......I am a Brit, but without doubt American history is steeped in Christianity.

Hi Brother

Just a thought...euthanasia is a modern phenomena. Folks are living longer than ever before in human history. Thanks to medical science.

The bible says that man was "made a little lower than the Angels" A little lower than the angels.....yes....but above the beast of the field. Above the animal realm. Human life is a sacred thing.....Life would be cheapened by the practise of euthanasia. Killings, abuse, etc. human life has been badly degraded already. Take God out of the human scene and man is on the level of the animal

The Psalmist says that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" Amen.

Speak up brother. Let your voice be heard for God Give a good testimony. I am sure God will take your words, and they will be more than you could ever have thought possible. Stand up,, like Stephen od old, speak up for God.

God Bless You

Hi justsavedvince,

I'm sure that if you go to the Got Questions? link and type in euthanasia in search you'll probably find some of the answers you're looking for. I did the same topic in highschool, which I can't remember now, but I got some really good information from the James Dobson Focus on the Family website (which you can find through google). Go to > Social Issues > all topics > Bioethics/Sanctity of Life, and there you should find all soughts of links and resources to do with euthanasia.

O.K. I hope I was of some help.

Godbless!

thanks for the encouragement you all. i looked at gotquestions but it's not what i was looking for. If i can be provided with websites that show that America was founded under Christian principles, then God and I can take the rest from there. I just wanna have that valid point if it's true. email me at [email protected] if you find any. thanks.

and it's best to email me because i found out the hard way that you're under no circumstances supposed to post links without permission, and there may not be enough time for permission.. haha. thanks

There's a very good book by William J Bennett, "Our Sacred Honor" that is a compilation of letters by America's founding fathers. It may be available at your local library.

Billyeah, euthanasia is a lethal injection given to patients who are in painful conditions and don't want to live anymore. It's essentially giving the doctor permission to kill you, which is essentially suicide. The reason i don't think it's right is because we are supposed to have total faith in God to heal us and give us the opportunity to live longer if it's His will. If we take the injection, then that's almost like saying that God can't handle this situation and the pain is too much for me, so i'm just gunna kill myself. But how do you convince America that euthanasia is wrong when not all Americans are devout Christians. That's why I'm looking for evidence that shows that America was founded by Christians and that those 4 fathers intended for America to follow the law of God. I'm trying to find a way to also say that euthanasia is unconstitutional. So with this information, you could possibly help me if you feel inclined to help out. If not, don't feel guilty, i won't take offense. If you do wanna help, then I'd appreciate it. I'll be doing my final research today and pray that God leads me to the right resources and speaks through me tomorrow during the debate.
