FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT - False Conversion?

Someone recently told me that when a believer receives the Holy Spirit,
they will also reap the "Fruits of the Spirit". (Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control).
And if those Fruits are not present in ones life, they have received a False Conversion, and are not truly saved.
This scares me, because personally, I don't feel like I have a lot of Joy, Peace, Goodness, etc). I look forward to any comments on this.
Thank you.

well it is true if we really died / really laid down ALL OUR LIVES and all of our desires and all of our "I believe" and all of our "knowledge of good and evil" and Truly made him LORD OF IT ALL>>if we laid it all down at that first choice to follow , we would have walked away with perfect peace, joy etc ....

few very few actually do that fully though at the start , we can only do what we have knowledge of !

but yes most of us enter his kingdom or start the process of salvation with our bags packed and with our own agenda of how He should or should , would or wouldn't ,can or can't 'Bless' US. and not a clue how or if we are to bless him.

just Don't give up . just keep knocking and sowing good seed, washing you mind with his words , and pray with out ceasing !
then someday when you aren't looking at your life , but you are looking after his life in you,and you are worried more about what he thinks, then what you think... you will reap a good harvest.

I know some Christians, that I know, don't have the Fruit of teh Holey Spirit, atleast not when a certian person is around...
But 2 are missonaries and prey and go to church... Most Chrisians are 'asleep' meaning, they don't act like Christians, cuz well, Christians need to well, give there whole lives to God, which I know, takes a long time. :), but if peole are sirous about following God, it will happen, cuz God and them both want it too.
God can only work in peoples lives who want to be worked on. Just like a person who visits a psycholigest...

remember too your talking about the very process of 'salvation'

I mean ( you=we=us=ALL)

what we receive from HIM and his Spirit is joy, but by his definition, it is peace by his definition, it is goodness by his definition...

some actually probably A lot of people start off and are just trying to save their flesh and with it their own agenda/baggage . they wash their flesh up sweep the house clean . clean it up and present it to the world as a 'new creation'.
but really they/we just get more and more controling to everyone around them/us so that their flesh gets more comfortable as long as no one rocks their boat they may appear quite "peaceful". but watch long enough and you can always tell this is where they are coming from when everyone becomes "the devil"!... as long as their flesh is in control they are peaceful.. thus their flesh has less and less 'ISSUES', so it appears to be "peaceful" or whatever fruit it is that they WANT it to be.

yes they got Fruit, it dont' mean it is ate-able.. not for anyone but themselves.
sure they offer others , maybe nice or kind instead of loving.. really loving etc . which is really a cheap imitation of what it is the father is really offering for us to become.

clue as they control everyone around them with their kind of "kindness" usually oozing with religious piousness..oh yes that always comes if we are operating from our own definitions and not his .

but just wait till anyone rocks their boat, and we get to see the storm raging and then 'death becomes them'!

Isaiah 1:18 the father says "come let us reason together" he wants US to fight it out with him until we lay down our definitions, one definition at a time. so the battle is on.... only then he says "though your sins be as scarlet they will be made white as snow". yes that IS the very process of "salvation" even in Christ.
so yes you have to try and be "good" always... unless you like really bad crops..
so be Good as you can .. as you realize your definitions just ain't working.. and realize you aren't "good" enough in each area he is asking for , then you learn from him what it means to be 'right'(rightous)with him instead of Good from you. from each point the crops/ the reaping gets better and better as each new kinds of seeds he has defined in you comes to maturity, but maybe your life style is getting less peaceful looking from the outside. because you are being less and less controlling of everyone around you. you can let God work on them, because you know what he has done in you.. and you hope in him for them. then you don't have to control them to keep your "peace". this works on every kind seed which will bring fruits when it is mature .all those seeds he is going to plant in you.

Then when his definitions/ yoke fits a lot better and you can really get into it and pull some weight, and do your part in his plan ,you realize he knows what it is he talking about! then you have peace like a river up to the ankles..up to the knee , up too the waiste , peace like a river to swim in..AMEN!!
hallelujah praise the lord! praise him for his love, his patient, his sacrifice and endurance, his grace and his mercy, all of which is given to mankind! may we all be found worthy of it!

God puts lots in our New creature at Salvation! But our flesh thinking which has our spirit mind in some subjection !
Our flesh mind is Not changed much at Salvation !
We need to renewed it ! Meaning we must fill it with Gods Living words!
It full of worldly thoughts . Thoughts that are not of God!
It takes time to see the fruits that are in our Spirit!

Rom 8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Rom 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Eph 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Col 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

The new child of God need more mercy than those of us more mature!

We need to be careful how we deal with the new Christian!

We want to up lift them and be a blessing to them . Correcting them in LOVE!
Never beating them down , because they do not understand!

We wash there feet !

1Co 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

this scripture means our Our inward man , our Spirit is in some subjection to our flesh minds thinking! That is why we must fill our flesh mind is the bible words and try to live them as well as we can?

the inner man ,inward man , new creature, new man , hidden man is All our Spirit after Salvation!
He has been Declared more than a Conqueror by God almighty and it can never be changed! We might not live it? But it there for us!
We live by Faith ,believing no matter what we see with our natural eyes! His words are the TRUTh more than what we appear to see!

I seen this take place many times in my life times and i am no more than any in HIS body1 the Just live by faith .Not sight!

Hi,

Somebody has been mashing up scripture and got you into a bit of a mess

A bigger chunk of the passage about the fruits of the spirit. Galatians 5.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

The gist of the passage - written by Paul to the church in Ephesus - is that we have been set free, and we should live by the spirit. It does not say anywhere that if you lose your self control you also lose your eternal salvation. If we live by the spirit then love and gentleness and goodness will be apparent in our lives.

In a completely different situation, Jesus uses the same metaphor. Matthew 7

“Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are savage wolves. You will know them by their fruit. Grapes aren't gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles, are they? In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, but a rotten tree produces bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a rotten tree cannot produce good fruit. Every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into a fire. So by their fruit you will know them.”

It is a warning about false prophets, and advice on how to identify them: you will be able to find them out by looking at the results of their teaching.

If we squeeze these two passages together then we get the teaching that has worried you. If you take each one separately in the context it was written I think you can open the window and let your fear fly away.

Hope that helps

The spiritual type things are in many scriptures!
Read in context will not reveal these things!
The Holy Ghost teaches by comparing Spiritual with spiritual !
God wrote the bible in such a way that the carnal mind cannot understand it! He does not want the3 carnal thinker to understand the deeper things of GOD!
It just for the spiritually minded!
You understand like?
inner man, inward man, new man , new creature , hidden man! all our spirit !Yet Not grouped together!

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

If the Holy Spirit teaches this ! surely we would!
We never going to reveal much too the carnal thinker! They are always judging by there Own understanding !

The spiritual thinker ,By His understanding!

that is why we have so much division in these churches here today! Most are going by there understanding or what some other person who mostly was taught by there understanding!

They think the Spiritual thinker is foolish. Because it makes no sense to them !
If they have Salvation? That is enough ,I guess ! Nothing is more important to mankind than eternal life!

And there is no sense arguing or even debating with them! Because we cannot force them to see! Only the Spirit of truth can open our eyes to the correct understanding! We do not look down on them .We love them and reveal what we can to them. hoping the LORD opens there eyes!

they will always think they are correct , just as we do !
It takes a lot of time sometimes for a person to allow the Spirit of truth reveal the correct understanding . Some times He cannot reveal it to some?

Heb 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1Co 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

1Co 3:3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

Babies in the LORD need more mercy!

It is my understanding that as we walk with Christ He will develop these traits in our lives as we follow His commands and do His work. The fruit of the spirit is not a "gift with purchase" as in we don't instantly have them in abundance at the time of conversion. We cultivate these fruits over time.

Our Christian walk on this earth is to prepare us for the 24/7 worship we will be doing in heaven, when we get there.

BTW, do not trust your feelings in your Christian walk. They can deceive you. Instead, trust in the word of God and lean not on your own understanding. Not everyday will feel joyful, but you can still have joy if you know that you walk with Christ and trust Him fully!

@spirit1st

I am a bit confused with your second post. Is it in direct reply to what I wrote, or to another part of the thread?

Thanks

Mabalot have you received the Holy Spirit ? Because when I received the Holy Spirit, I spoke in tongues. Which is a sign given to every believer.

When people recive Jesus into thre hearts, the Holy Spirit comes in with Jesus. The Holy Spirit is a councaler, the bible says, so no one needs to pray seprately for it. If u listen to teh Holy Spirit, u will be closer to Jesus's mind, you knw? Friuts of the Spirit. But u have to go though trails to be reformed. Testd by 'fire' you know? To be refined like gold. I have been. Some people don't listen to the triles, react diffrently so they don't pass the trile, by leaning on Jesus.
People don't need, to speak intoughs, but I think Paul in one of the Corinthian books, talked about talking in taughs. It's ur soul praying the perfect prayer, I was tought. The Bible says it's 'praying in th Spiritl' In an unkown langauge.
People don't have to pray in taoghts to be Christain, what they have to do is just ask jesus into there heart, and do what Jesus tells them. The Bible talks about tressures in Heaven right?
The Bible is not wrong. It is not missinterpreted in one passage that says, "Do NOT every person speak in toughs." NO, if ONE word of the Bible was missinterpreted, the Bible would be wrong, it couldn't b trusted...
There was this test in Egypt once, where the king? got 70 people to write out the old? testimate, and all of them got the text exactly right, word for word... It says both in the bible, the old and new testimant, if you *** or take away from the Bible, something will happen... The Bible is compleatly accurate how it is. No one needs to look into the Greek or other langauges the Bible is compleatly accurate, whatever langauge it is interpreted into...
(Sorry, but I know if a cult, that belaives that people NEED to speak in toughs, and recieve The Holy Spirit seperately when they ask Jesus into there ehart, or 'they arn't true Christains.' And also the members HAVE to speak in toughs, and I think they mostly use the book of Acts as there start of there doctrine. And they beleive that the verse from 1 Cornithians 14:6 and below talk about toughs. They think there should be a 'NOT' in the verse cuz of a Greek 'miss' interpretation... NO.
But then again, a freind I knew said that he thinks most of them are true Christains, but they just have their doctrons wrong.

Fruits of the Holy spirt are not automatic thing that is bestowed upon you permanetely but we must learn to walk in spirit.
And its always God who fills us with His spirit more and more but we have free will to live for the flesh or seek the spirit.

Gal 5:16-17 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (17) For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Rom 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

If it were automatic for every born again believer to be filled with the Holy ghost then bible would not beseech us in so many places to walk in the spirit.

But even you wouldnt walk in the spirit you still have the holy spirit as seal in you.

Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

1Co 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

Not everyone..

We receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (only) when we repent (Acts 2:38) and obey God´s Word (Acts 5:32).
It is a matter of sincerity, and if we are truly sincere toward God, we will make the sincere effort to do the things which He says; and yes the fruit of the Spirit shall grow in us just as an apple grows, and though for a while we cannot recognize it is an apple tree, but in due time we behold the apple looking as it ought to; an apple, then we know its an apple tree.

I dont think the gifts grow in us Bro. they are given like any gift. But you may have to ask.

Luk 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Same have more HS than others:

Act 11:24 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Maybe we have to learn to "ask" but when God sends His spirit upon you its the real deal.

The fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-24) is planted in us by the Spirit and grows to maturity. The fruit is not fully mature when we receive it; at least it wasn't in my case.

I think its more like that we mature and the more we learn to walk in the spirit the more we allow the spirit to show through us :)

I havent read about a seed of HS that grows.. from the bible. But we sure do grow there's no question.

But point is that while God may perhaps give us different levels of HS for us to have the fruit of the spirit we also are prepared for it.
First at conversion and then by maturity.

And everyday we may ask for God to fill us with His spirit.

Eph 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

You have all made some very good observations!! After receiving Holy Spirit in my life,to be honest, I did not know about gifts bestowed on people. My pastor said I am going out of town, and would I hold a bible meeting in his home tomorrow,I said me? Pastor? Well ok,we will have a prayer meeting because I am not much for speaking anything about Jesus except what I know. Which Pastor to be very honest is not much!

You will do fine the pastor said, long story short, the meeting had about 20 of us in his home,we sang praises to God,a young girl had her arm in a sling, she had hurt it very badly. As we were just worshiping the Lord,I said young girl please stop towards me. I did not think about anything,it was like I was in some sort of a trance?? I saw a white cloud over her,and said Jesus has come here tonight to heal you,and praise God there it is!

With those words, she began to fumble around with her sling, and without thinking I helped her pull it off of her,as she raised her hands to Jesus to thank him for his healing! We all did! I cannot tell you, why certain gifts manifest,I cannot tell you ,why some have them and some do not, many give different reasons for this, but what I have found out in my own ministry,is that they who love, Holy Spirit comes upon,to minister to his people.

It does not matter what color you are,it does not matter whether you are male of female, and it does not matter the age either. What is know,is God recieves all the Glory from this, and his people draw closer to our Jesus! As Spirit said the seed planted by God to us grows,as we grow in him!

That same fruit of the Spirit can come on us to abide,as our love abides in Jesus.(John 14:23) There are so many gifts he can bestow, but what is certain about them,is that Jesus always recieve the full Glory to those he touches by, and through us. And we in turn knowing we ourselves do not have this power, make sure we always tell others,it is not by me these things have occured, but by The very power of God working his will for all of us!

Holy spirit really is our encourager,he falls on those he wills. Jari is also correct,we ask,we believe, we recieve. I did not ask,but Jesus knows what gifts we should have, because he knows how we will use them for him. To manifest God's power we must yield to his love, for when we do this my brother ,sister,he will come on us to abide, and when this happens!! There is no limit to what Holy Spirit can do through or by any one of us!amen!

Amen Brighthouse. Although the topic starter was concerned of Fruits of the spirit and not gifts which i think are different they both come from same Spirit the Holy spirit and by same admission: Grace!
And the lesson is same. God gives His holy spirit to simple people like us and we just need to ask for His spirit and for His gifts...

God does not have baby gifts!
He has declared us more than conquerors. Because we are even when we are just born into the Kingdom.!
Our Spirit is a Baby t salvation! She needs to grow and Mature and learn its place in the KINGDOM!
A baby king is no less a king as a baby than when He grows up! But must learn what powers He has !

1Pe 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Heb 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.

Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

We have the Spirit of God within us at SALVATION! Which is GODS POWER. that created all things!

Of course unless we accept by Faith and step out and use it ? Irt might appear we have no Power?

God has given us All we will ever need to be over comers!

1Jn 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Mat 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
