Forgive me if this is already a thread, or if this is old news, but this is very interesting. Apparently the first verse of the Bible should actually read "In the beginning God separated the Heaven and the Earth". This is profound as this only further proves that Biblical and Scientific events can coincide. In the other article, the author claims that the Professor believes the Creationist side of God to be a "misconception". However, if God can separate the Heaven and the Earth, whose to say he can't create it as well?

I can't post the link because I'm under the post quota but feel free to Google "Genesis mistranslation".

I saw an article on this in the newspaper. It has some "holes" in it.

Namely, the academic was studying words without proper consideration. Not her fault, as she couldn't read with the understanding of the Spirit.

It is notable that there are references to the chaotic state in the early part of creation in many parts of the Bible. The great sea monster "Rahab", who represents chaos, is mentioned in the Psalms.

However, the professor's assertion that God used raw material (which she likened to a great globule of water) contradicts the Bible's clear teaching that "all things were made by Him" (Philippians - I think)

Add to that the Holy Spirit's divine work in inspiring and preserving His word, it is clear that "scientific" study of Biblical linguistics cannot contradict the basic tenets of Christianity. If they do, we must side with God's Word and refute the scientific.

Mark.

After reviewing that text (Genesis 1:1) in 23 different translations each produced by people who read and wrote Hebrew and Greek like I read a a newspaper I would have to take issue with that new age "translation".
But then that is just my view and you are more than welcome to yours.
Have a great day,
brother Larry.

I will try again to post my message..

Bereshit bara Elohim et hashamaim ve et haaretz (genesis 1:1)

Bereshit = in the begining
bara = created, made
Elohim = God
et ha = the
shamaim = sky or by the translation, heaven
ve = and
et ha = the
aretz = earth, land

bara always means created or made never seperated.

and trust me that I know genesis a little bit better than most folks here because I had to study it deeply more than the surface of things.

I sometimes find it useful to view different translations side by sdie to get the full meaning of a verse. These translators read Hebrew and Greek lie you or I would read a newspaper:

Gen 1:1

(ASV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

(BBE) At the first God made the heaven and the earth.

(Bishops) In the beginnyng GOD created ye heauen and the earth.

(CEV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

(Darby) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

(DRB) In the beginning God created heaven, and earth.

(ESV) In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

(Geneva) In the beginning God created the heauen and the earth.

(GNB) In the beginning, when God created the universe,

(GW) In the beginning God created heaven and earth.

(HOT+) בראשׁיתH7225 בראH1254 אלהיםH430 אתH853 השׁמיםH8064 ואתH853 הארץ׃H776

(JPS) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

(KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

(KJV+) In the beginningH7225 GodH430 createdH1254 (H853) the heavenH8064 and the earth.H776

(KJV-1611) In the beginning God created the Heauen, and the Earth.

(KJVA) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

(LITV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth;

(LXX) Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν.

(MKJV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

(RV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

(Vulgate) in principio creavit Deus caelum et terram

(Webster) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

(YLT) In the beginning of God's preparing the heavens and the earth--

Since Hebrew is my mother's tounge and I studied bible in hebrew I can objectivley say that THE MOST accurate version of the bible in english that I read was the NIV precisley word by word (and I used it for my tests since the bible is written in ancient hebrew which is sometimes hard) but it was the most accurate and helped me alot also very simple to understand.
I support it very much for anyone who want to study the bible (atleast the jewish bible) the most precised way.

BEWARE!!!
darkness is growing on earth and there is a lot of sly cunning tricks the enemy is using. remember in genisis how the serpent was described?

Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said to the woman, Is it so that God has said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
MKJV

he is even using part truth part lie to decieve. but if you curse the part you curse the whole. we must not be decieved by such. (not saying you was trying to by postng this) but study the word in depth. dont take anothers opinion or teaching as truth. Jesus Christ is truth. the enemy is the father of all lies. the bible says if a man preach another gospel let him be accursed.

Ecc 1:9 That which has been is that which shall be; and that which has been done is that which shall be done; and there is nothing new under the sun. if its "new" its not true. Jesus is Faithful and True.

The vision i get on the 1st day of creation of the Earth is like a tear drop in space wobbling around without any other planet or stars around to give off light, I also believe this is when Satan and a 1/3 of the angel were cast out from heaven, being as then the Earth was void " nothing in it " and with out form " shape "

Since it's "old news" it must have fizzled away like every other man-made
theory to creation. Because I have never heard this before now.

The verb for what happened in the beginning is "create".

Its laughable that some of the most capable Hebrew and Greek scholars of all time (transcriptionists of the Bible) are ever called into question by every nut job with language translation software with an axe to grind or an agenda to make public.

And you'll notice that in almost every case, new "translations" (a misnomer since most attempts arent translating the original source material but paraphrasing current versions) arent casting new light on the scriptures to edify ("hey, we've only just begun to understand the majesty of this verse...") but instead try and cast aspersion on what exists ("the Bible doesnt really mean x, it means x"). :secret:
