Recently, Ive been getting serious on trying to change my life the way that God wanted me to. I ask this Lord. Please have me do your will and walk in such a way that you want me to.

Recently, Ive been getting serious on trying to change my life the way that God wanted me to. I ask this Lord. Please have me do your will and walk in such a way that you want me to.

Years ago, I heard a preacher say that when we first receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior at God's invitation, it is similar to a fish taking the bait on the fisherman's rod. The fish takes the bait, but immediately starts racing away from the fisherman. The fisherman lets the fish run and run and run until the inevitable happens; he gets tired and stops running.

At that point, the fisherman pulls back on the rod, sets the hook firmly in the fish's mouth, and begins to reel him in.

That's what's happening to you, Jeremy. You took the bait, but tried to run away from the fisherman (God). Because God never interferes with our free will, he let you run and run and run until you got tired. Now he's drawing you to himself because you were the apple of his eye all along. He wasn't about to let go of you.
