"God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ"
Galations 6 v 14

It is the "preaching of the cross" , and nothing else that has proved to be the mighty power of God unto Salvation, from the day of Pentecost to this 21st century in which we live today. Paul preached Christ crucified; he preached nothing else; "I am determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified".

This was his gospel. It was a stumbling block to the very people he sought to win, yet he preached it. It was utter foolishness to the intelligentsia of his day, yet he preached it, for it was "the power of God unto Salvation". Nothing else will meet the case of a guilty sinner.

MOdern religeon is a hopeless failure for want of the cross; it is anaemic because it is a bloodless gospel, and it has never saved anyone. So Paul preached the cross, and he gloried in the cross.

It was the only thing he gloried in; all the things in which he had gloried before he had gladly renounced for the cross. How he had gloried in his position, in being a "Pharisee of the Pharisee's"! How he had gloried in his character, "as touching the law, blameless"!

All these glories Paul cast on one side, and he had just one glory; in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. It was his pride and constant joy to preach it, as it is of many lesser men.. He never was so happy , as when spreading the good news of the cross to all who needed it; he gloried in it because it is "the glorious gospel of the blessed God"

Jesus keep me near the cross,...... there a precious fountain,
free to all........a healing stream .........flows from Calvary's mountain

Near the cross,....a trembling soul......love and mercy found me,
There the bright and morning star..........shed its beams around me

Thank God Thank God

Amen brother Stephen, great devotional. I think Paul was one of the most fired up, drastically changed follower of Christ, a great example of true devotion and submission to the Cross.

Matthew 16:24-25
24Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Amen brother, God bless you !

But whatever former things I had that might have been gains to me, I have come to consider as loss for Christ's sake.
Philippians 3:7

that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,
if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Philippians 3:10-11

Thankyou for your response.

I note that your flag indicates Uganda.......I am planned to visit Uganda early in November, to address a Pastors Conferance.....As the date approaches I wonder .....I have to take 4 plane rides. Manchester to Amsterdam....Amsterdam to Kenya......Kenya to Entebbe.....Entebbe to my destination within Uganda.

We are expecting to see God work mightily, among the local people. Pray for me.......I would be so grateful.......

Talk about a big ride to Uganda brother Stephen :)

I will pray for you. God bless you

Thanks dear brother.......

As the time approaches.....and I consider the journey which I have committed to make, to get there.....three flights to Entebbe, Africa........ The final journey from Entebbe to Lira, is a six mile car drive.......At this point in time I have chosen the plane journey of less than an hour.....to Lira, Uganda.

I do ask myself if I have done the right thing.........People world-wide indeed ....call to the West for help....I will, indeed be expecting to see the Mighty Power of God....nothing else will do

Thankyou for Prayer......some weeks to go yet.......but thanks.....

Stephen,

I believe your trip has been planned by the Lord from before the beginning of creation and he is going to empower you and bless you as you step out in faith. You'll be in my prayers.

Dear brother!!!
We are so happy to have you in Uganda, though Lira is very far place from where I stay (Kampala, capital city) us you mentioned it,

Northern Uganda. has suffered from a civil war for 18 years and the communities live in internally displaced camps where the rate of HIV transmission is higher than the rest of the country.

I work with non government faith based organization in HIV/AIDS field so I had a chance to see how people are badly affected by the war……………. Uganda needs Gods intervention

(Actually the flag you see is not for Uganda, I’m originally from Eritrea, and God has privileged me to serve the HIV/AIDS infected and affected children in Uganda, Kampala city)

I pray for your safe journey and Gods anointing upon you as you minister.

Blessings
In Christ………..

abigya......your post gives me the impression that I am going to a remote area, where war and inhumanity have prevailed.

Can you give me any information regarding the region (Lira, in Uganda) which I am going to visit?

God Bless
