God and Gossip - September 16, 2006
Some of my relatives seem to have a very hard time keeping a confidence. Mention some sort of difficulty you are having, and before you know it, it has become the new topic of local gossip.
While such individuals may make wonderful reporters at the local TV station or newspaper, divulging private matters to the public can oftentimes be very hurtful, as most of the time such stories end up traveling right back to the ears of the person they concern. To make matters worse, additional embellishments can also make a proverbial mountain out of a molehill.
While those near and dear to us can sometimes greatly disappoint us by not treating our private communications privately, what is said in prayer by us to our Creator, God, is always treated as the gift it is. I assume this is because, unlike man, God is not a flawed being. He has no hidden agendas, speaks only truth, and fully understands the contents of our heart. I suppose this is one of the reasons I enjoy prayer so, since I know that what is said between God and I, goes no further.
My dear friends, are you hurting or carrying some sort of secret inside you? Then tell it to God, and unload your burden on Him!
