If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

God Forgives

Have you ever come across a person in the Bible who was perfect, excluding Jesus? There are many individuals in the Bible that we look up to. But there are people in the Bible who messed up several times in life, yet God was still able to use them for His glory. God couldn’t have used these men and women if they didn’t realize that they had messed up and asked for God’s forgiveness. The same way it is with us, God can’t restore us and use us if we don’t come to Him and renew our fellowship by asking for His forgiveness.

There isn’t a promise in the Bible that says once you come to Christ you will be perfect. Many times I wish that were true, but there is a promise in the Bible that says when we mess up we can ask God for forgiveness and He will do just that. God forgives when we confess our sins. If God knows my heart, why do I have to confess my sins? When we confess our sins we agree with God that what we done was sin and that we are willing to turn from it. Also, if we confess our sins we make sure that we’re not concealing our sins from Him (as if we can) and from ourselves. Finally, in confessing our sins we recognize our tendency to sin and how we must rely on His power to overcome it.

When I come to God with an open heart and share with Him the sin that I committed, he is faithful and just and will forgive me of my sins. Once I confess, immediately I’m forgiven by God. He is faithful, which means that I can believe it, trust, and know that God has forgiven me of that which I’ve confessed. He’s just, righteous, and fair, so I can take it to the bank and cash it, knowing in my heart that I’m forgiven by God. We can ask people to forgive us, but it can take years for them to forgive and still some never forgive. But, praise be to God that it only takes one time to ask God’s forgiveness for it to be granted.

Many times we feel so guilty that we ask God over and over to forgive us of the same sin. This shouldn’t be when we realize that we’re forgiven by God when we come to Him the first time and confess. When we confess the same past sins over and over, we’re actually showing that we haven’t forgiven ourselves yet and all that does is hold us back from moving forward in God’s grace. Confessing our sins allow us to enjoy maximum fellowship and joy with God.

I hope you all have a blessed weekend, but before you go I have one more thing to tell you. God not only forgives us of our sins, but He purifies us from all unrighteousness. We’re not forgiven and left dirty; God cleans us from the filth that led us to confess in the first place. This means that I have a clear slate, I’m renewed, fresh, and sooo clean. When true confession is made, it involves a commitment not to continue in sin. When God cleanse me, I shouldn’t want to go get dirty again.

I thank God for His gift of forgiveness. When Jesus died upon the cross, he died for my past, present, and future sins. This is why I don’t have to worry about if God will reject me if my slate isn’t perfectly clean. Of course we should continue to confess our sins, but if I were to die with unconfessed sins my salvation is secure. But as long as I live and recognize when I mess up, I need to always come to God and confess. Aren’t you glad that God forgives? Amen.

may God bless you shortlady. that was good!!! you are correct we do get forgiven but it's the guilt that we feel inside it makes us feel like we're not forgiven or makes it hard to get back up again and move on. can i ask you a question though? i know we get forgiveness, but you know every sin we commit we do it out side the body. but adultery is something we do with our body. how do you see God's fogiveness about that? i did something bad and it is just driving me insane.......

yes the word tells me I can be perfect

Hello Shortlady,
Very good post yes He does forgive amen. His word tells me to "be Holy for I AM Holy" and also "be therefore perfect as I am perfect." I believe the Good Lord does not tell us do something we can not do. Now we can not do this on our own but by His blood. He died once for all. We are new creations in Him and through Him. There is a difference between perfect and perfection also.

Nadie, no matter what you have done He is just to forgive. As He tell the woman "your sins are forgiven go and sin no more." Nadie stand on his promies He does not lie. Someone told me once when I could not forgive myself. who am I not forgive myself when He can am I God. Well that put things into a better picture for me.

one of His warriors,
Debbi
