God is Gracious and Forgiving

'Even now,' declares the LORD,
'return to me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning.'

Rend your heart and not your garments.
Return to the LORD your God,
for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love,
and he relents from sending calamity.

Who knows? He may turn and have pity
and leave behind a blessing - grain
offerings and drink offerings for the
LORD your God.

And if I say to the wicked man,
'You will surely die,' but he then
turns away from his sin and does
what is just and right - if he gives
back what he took in pledge for a loan,
returns what he has stolen,
follows the decrees that give life,
and does no evil, he will surely live;
he will not die.

remembered against him.

He has done what is just and right;
he will surely live.

You are my friends if you do what I command you.
