God's Blessing in 2007
Here is an encouraging note of Blessing from God's Word! By now just about everybody has heard of Jabez and his famous prayer. But as we head into 2007, let's look at his prayer from a different perspective. Believing God for a miracle is really just thanksgiving translated forward by faith. As we look back in our lives, and the lives of others, and see how God has been so faithful to us all, this builds our faith to believe Him for a miracle both today and for tomorrow. We become "confident and sure" of the promises from God found in His Word and in our hearts.
I see three concepts that help us learn to really believe God wants to bless our lives. The first is to truly understand WHO He is. Is there anything too hard for Him? He is the Creator and King of the universe! Yet He is also your perfect, loving, Eternal Father. Second, we must come to appreciate WHAT He has done. The price your Father paid to restore relationship with you is truly awesome. God basically bankrupted heaven to redeem your life. And that's not all; He then adopted you into His family, making you a son or daughter. Those of us who believe who He is and accept what He has done have received eternal life. If we can believe God for eternal life, how much more should we have faith for "abundant life" as we follow Him each and every day? This brings us to the third concept. We need to believe WHERE He is leading us. Scripture says satan tries to steal, kill and destroy; but God wants to give us "Life to the full."
He has promised to truly set us free - free from bondage, addictions, oppression, suffering, and even Hell itself! And He also assures us that He is transforming us into His image. That's a Christian - a small image of Christ. So go ahead and be like Jabez; believe God for a miracle. Like Jabez, as we seek God first He will: Bless us indeed, Enlarge our boundaries, Anoint our lives, Protect us from evil, and keep us in perfect Peace. God be with you all...
