God so loved the world that he gave John 3 v 16
When I think of the gift of God in Jesus Christ, I see that it is God's nature to give; and that Christ reveals God to us, as the most utterly unselfish person in the universe. God is Love.
And this love is wonderfully revealed to us in the Saviour's coming down to this earth. He gave his only begotton son..... Amen.. .and if there is any doubt in your heart that God loves you, and there comes the temptation to doubt it - perhaps in a time of bereavement, perhaps in a time of failure in your Christian life, and Christian service, perhaps in a time of sorrow, a time of weakness maybe, then if the temptation comes to doubt, go back to this verse which takes us straight to Bethlehem: God so loved.......that He gave His only Son to be born here and to share our nature, to understand our every need, and to be tempted in all points that we are.
And go from Bethlehem to a little green hill outside the city wall: stand there at the foot of the cross, and see the Saviour suffering there for you, see those wounds of His, as His precious blood flows down from them "God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself" and "He who spared not His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him freely give us all things".
It is God's nature to give; it is God's nature to love. And to love not just special people. He so loved the world...... that He gave His only begotton Son; and if you have responded to that and, you have accepted Him as your Saviour, you are a child of His......... Then remember that the fulness of His love reaches out to you today,..... and the fulness of His purpose ......and the fulness of His blessing ....all this is waiting for you today and everyday, and he is standing right by your side, longing to give you His all.
Thank God....thank God.......Christianity is all about God,s love. "Salvation is of the LOrd"
