These two verses here keep me in check. I don't know aboutanyone else, but I have trouble controlling my thoughts. I used to think that I was going to hell because some of them. But through much counsel from other Christians and some of them preachers, I realized this is not so. Whenever I have trouble with worry or anxiety I go to Phillipians 4:8. Satan knows our weaknesses and this one is mine. I used to carry and index card with this verse on it. Whenever I'd get an anxiety attack or realize I was thinking about something I shouldn't I'd subtly pull this card out of my pocket read it and put it back. Now I don't have to do that. I just stop and remember it.
Phillipians 4:8 "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admireable- if anything is excellent or praisworthy think aobut such things.Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Ephesians 4:29: Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for buidling others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
This verse here also helps me to keep in check with my mouth. OUr mouths can be the deadliest of weapons. Also the way we say words. Tonight was a good example of that for me. My daugter was in here discussing stuff with us. I didn't say anything unkind but I guess it was the manner I said it in. It was just matter of fact. And she said that the way I said it hurt her feelings. It was nothing major nor was it a put down. The fact that it hurt her or upset her made me reflect ok how could I have done that better.
After writing this, I realized I was going to write on a different topic completly. ONe dealing with music and movies. I think this does apply. How you say? Well the movies and things we watch and listen to DO influence us. If watched enough, movies and things we watch can influence us negativly and put thoughts in our heads we normally don't have. Samething with the words we say.
God is so good. Lord, I wish I could learn your lessons quickly so It won't have to hurt others.
In Him,
Danni
