I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman. Job 31: 1 NLT
Job was well aware of his weaknesses. He knew that if he allowed himself to look at a young woman for too long, he'd probably lust after her, so he made a pact--an agreement with himself--that he wouldn't purposely look at a woman with the intent to lust. He wouldn't objectify her, nor presume to have the right to do so.
This battle against the flesh is an ancient one. Many a man has fallen into temptation after gazing longingly at a woman he found attractive. What are you doing to guard your eyes? Are you willing to make a similar covenant with your eyes? Are you willing to stay off your computer late at night, if you find that to be a temptation? Are you willing to stay accountable to other men?
As you work out your own salvation in this area, trust the power of the Holy Spirit to keep you strong. You'll be unable to stand otherwise. But as you yield to the Spirit's leading and guidance, you'll find joy and freedom. If this is a new practice for you, consider talking to godly men who show women the respect they deserve.
