Not surprising. It happened in the OT more than once.
It wasn't voluntary, in the sense that God's punishment was upon them and when your city is surrounded by an army (siege) and you have no food coming in, then anything that can be eaten will be. Happens when you go against God's will.
The real horror in this in today's time, is that it's not necessary, and that the secular world has no problem with it, like quite a few cultures throughout history. Though those were mostly tribal and would do it for religious reasons and not necessarily for food purposes.
Again, in this day and age it's not surprising. You have the body parts of babies being sold as part of the abortion system. Horror upon horror!!!
We keep praying and going about God's business while we await our Lord Jesus' Return!
