Having A Noble Character
Who wouldn't want a wife of noble character? (Prov 31) What woman wouldn't be thrilled to have a noble man who makes noble plans and by noble acts he stands? (Is 32) Nobility is something everyone admires. And so we find that the man or woman of God, who desires to be a successful, productive Christian, must pursue nobility of spirit. In 2nd Peter 1, Peter tells us to add moral excellence to our faith. Moral excellence can be translated as purity, virtue, goodness, or noble character. It is step 2 in the 8 steps to successful Christian living. Notice that it is not step 1. There's no use trying to be a person of virtue without God's virtue dwelling in you. You must first put your faith in Christ and then learn to develop moral excellence. You need His Divine Power to help you with this step. Why? Because according to Jesus, immorality comes from your heart! He will cleanse you and purify your heart. He will wash you and make you whiter than snow. But you must apply all diligence to your faith and pursue a life of virtue. Paul warned that no immoral person would see the Kingdom of Heaven. (Eph 5) He also taught that we should meditate on things of virtue. Goodness is one of the nine qualities that represent the fruit of the Spirit. James challenged believers to validate their living faith by their holy lifestyle. Go ahead and put your faith into action today. Escape the corruption of this world and become a man or woman of true, spiritual nobility. God be with you all...
