When we are born physically into this world, in human bodies, we are born with sin natures, in the image of Adam, the first man God created and the first to sin against God. And we all fall short of God’s divine approval and of his righteousness. And not one of us can do anything in our own flesh to believe in the Lord and to be saved from our sins and to have eternal life with God. All that is of God and not of our human flesh. We cannot even believe in Jesus Christ unless God the Father first draws us to him.

But what God does in drawing us to faith in Jesus Christ is that he persuades us first of his holiness and righteousness, and of our sinfulness, and of our need to bow the knee to God, to repent of (turn away from) our sins, and to now follow our Lord Jesus in obedience to his commands. For Jesus died on that cross to put our sins to death with him so that, by faith in him, we will deny self, die with him to sin (not just once, but daily), and walk in obedience to his commands. And this is the message of the gospel of Christ.
But it doesn’t just stop there, for our salvation is not “a thing” that happens to us once in our lives which guarantees us heaven as our eternal destiny. Our salvation is progressive, progressive sanctification. We have been saved (past), we are being saved (present active), and we will be saved (future) when Jesus Christ returns for his faithful ones and he takes us to be with him for eternity, which is when our salvation will be complete. Our faith in Jesus is also something that is ongoing, not a one-time fits all event.
Also, if we profess faith in Jesus Christ, but then we go on living in sin, and not in walks of obedience to our Lord, and to his commands, then we do not know God, we are not born of God, we are not in fellowship with God, but we are of the devil, and so we do not have salvation from sin nor eternal life with God. For the faith that is required for salvation comes from God, and it is persuaded of God that we must die with him to sin and now walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands if we want to have life in him.

So, this is the salvation that our Lord has worked for us, not a salvation that permits us to keep living in deliberate and habitual sin while claiming Jesus as our Savior and heaven as our eternal destiny. For if sin is what we obey, it leads to death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it leads to righteousness and to sanctification, and its end is eternal life with Jesus Christ, our Lord (see Romans 6:1-23). This is the salvation he has made known to us through Christ and through his New Testament apostles.
And our Lord absolutely will be faithful to all his promises, all of which have conditions (stipulations, requirements to be met), and he will also be faithful to all his warnings and all his judgments, too. And in the end he is going to judge all of us according to our works/deeds (Romans 2:6-8). And if we are living for him in walks of obedience to his commands, and not in sin, we will have eternal life. But if we continue in deliberate and habitual sin, and not in obedience to him, we will face his wrath, not have eternal life with God.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.
Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
