I've just begun taking plant sterols in order to reduce my blood cholesterol level on the advice of a nutritionist and with the approval of my GP. I much prefer taking supplements to drugs.
The ones I get are 800mg per tablet of which 640mg is beta sitosterols.
To maintain healthy levels just one tablet is needed but they advised to take two to a max of three tablets a day to reduce a high level.
Hoping to report that it works.....they said to give it a few months. I really hope it does.
Of course anyone interested in taking plant sterols would also need to check with their doctor or nutritionist to and talk with them first if you wanted to stop a prescription med.
