Blessings to you all,
I am currently attending a Baptist church in Melbourne. I enjoy integral theology and combined with social science: long story!
I had began posting on forums this year in order to share and understand diverse Christian communities around the world.
My own spiritual formation has been somewhat existential beginning in Irish Catholicism, being born again at a Pentecostal church and now attending a Baptist community... not to mention migration.
I am a counsellor who works for an NGO, however my central passion is theology that continues to grow... I am here to learn and support and engage in iron sharpening iron!

Welcome to Talk Jesus @L.B

Enjoy the forum and online Christian fellowship

Blessings
Blessing right back at you,
I am looking forward to posting on theological matter of Christian thought and life for today's fellowship...
Hope to chat soon- lot of work seems to tie me up- but I pray to post more very soon :)
Actually I am going to try this: ><> ah, thank you @Br. Bear for this symbol and I will certainly copy your method creating the symbol!

The best symbol ever my brother!
But what is better: inspiration to go out and save!
There are many ways to do this... yet one great commission we all partake in.
From now on: I have a new symbol.

Welcome to Talk Jesus Brother,
I hope you find fellowship and growth in God's Word while you are here on the Christian Forum for Believers! :)
Receiving & Giving in turn that it might edify the Body of Christ to the Glory of God!!
Can't say that I understand fully the studies you are undertaking, but do relate to the road you have traveled.

With that being said, again welcome to Talk Jesus.
With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Thank you Nick.
Oh that road travelled: such a winding journey to find our place in the Truth!
My studies are a nerdy quirk... and I expect that is just how I engage in understanding: but no means essential to walking the Way.
You know, I was reading an article on being mindful of worldly individualism and living for self interest and how to counter such acts...
You mentioned: "Receiving & Giving in turn that it might edify the Body of Christ to the Glory of God!!". And what a great counter thought to self interest of this age!
We are a team: Team for Christ. No I in team I guess... I really appreciated your statement, and timely for me after reading that article... a star comment you made!
Blessing Brother,

Dear Brother Liam,
Close but no cigar! :)

YBIC = Your Brother in Christ

\o/ = Praising God or Giving God the Glory both work fine in my book!

<>< = ><> You pretty much got this right. I look at it more as Br. Bear getting the ones who need the Lord that are going up stream. While I get the ones going downstream. :)

I've used the fish symbol for a long time. I remember hearing a story about during the early church when there was great persecution, that the Christian would use the symbol of the fish to identify themselves one to another. I heard that one would sit at a table and draw one part of the fish "~" kind of wiggle, and the other person would draw the other part completing the symbol of the fish and so <>< or ><> and this way they would know that the other person was also a Christian! It's been so long ago, I'm not so sure the truth of the story, but I liked the thought of it. We are to be fishers of men, so I've used it ever since!

I hope all is going well with you, in your journey around TJ (Talk Jesus) :)
If I can help in anyway, please let me know, or one of the other Moderators, Brothers/Sisters in Christ as well. The brethren here are pretty helpful when given a chance.

Close but no cigar! Well good job I left Freud well in the past... \0/ is now another symbol I will carry forward: glory to God! I have only posted hello my brothers and sisters, and yet picked up so much new symbols!
I remember seeing a documentary as a kid around the use of the fish symbol and using it to identify fellowship during the Christian oppressions of the early church. Relate to that... seems that it is also a theme today. When I say I am Christian at work, in a secular social sector, I experience some look at me with narrow brows! Ah well, If I stand in a court and I am convicted of being Christian... that might mean I am living as a Christian. If they do not find any evidence to convict me: I have a lot of work to do to be convicted.
Disclaimer: not conviction in a legal sense... but a person of a community of conviction... I act this way so I belong to this.
Interesting thought!
Blessings brother, and pray for a tolerant society now and to be....
:)

Dear Brother Liam,
It touched me your mentioning about walking the Way, not only on Sundays and if there would there be enough evidence to be convicted of being a Christian, Child of the Most High. It can be difficult at first, because those who have known you, wonder what has happened to you! The newness in walking the Way has us either rocking the boat, or blending in the background. Yet, as we gradually start to change by the Way, and others get used to the changes in the new us, we begin to sprout like a flower hit with the morning dew and first light. Appreciated or trampled underfoot, but regardless, a joy to our Creator and fellow travelers who encounter us.

Whether the society that we pray for which we all should do, gets better, stays the same, or worsens. Keep the faith and continue to spread the seeds that take the place of those trampled underfoot by the same Godless society we live in as we await His Return! That we might bring Glory to our God!

Always remember...we know how the story ends! :)

With the Love of Christ Jesus.
