Hey friends! I need some advise. I work for a tobacco company. Yes somehow it happened and I thought it was going to be an easy walk. Right now the global tobacco industry is under scrutiny with calls for an end to the existance of the industry. As part of my work I have found myself face to face with challenges that test my faith as the industry genuinely puts out its defence. What am I still doing here trying to defend something that is quite complicated especially since it has an addiction issue with it and even when the industry has long admitted that smoking kills. Who am I representing as a Christian? Can this be the will of God.I understand Esther's story and the role she had to play under heavily pagan and secular circumstances, but am afraid I can't see why I shouldn't opt out! I certainly need God's help and if he has placed in your heart a word of encouragement for me or people like me.... please advise

Imani:When I started to work as a highschool freshman I found part time job as a dishwasher at a Denny's restaurant for minimum wage of $ .95 an hour. I made it a point never to work in place that served liquor. There were other part time jobs in restaurants that paid much more, because the bus boys kept the ice bins full. I refused to take those jobe there was no way I would serve booz. I stayed at the same Denny's until I graduated from highschool. I am sure I could have made perhaps double what I made at Denny's. Suret there was temptation, but I stayed steady. Today more than 52 years later I am so glad I stayed because the patterns we make as young persona have effects when we are older.

Faithfulness is very hard to achive over a lifetime. Satan is always ther doing his best to distract us. Like most Christians I have backsliden in my life. But Jesus was there to reach out and restore me back to His sheep pen.

I could tell you what I would do. But then I would not allow the Lord to direct you. My opinion is to read James 1:5. Ask Jesus for wisdom. Them after you have prayed and when you know His will do it. Somw might say don't quit a job until you have another. Some might say when you believe you have the wisdom God gives you act on it right then. I know by experience God will answer you if you ask in faith and obey when He directs. God bless you.

Dear Imani, we subject ourselves to our conscience when we feel guilt in a manner. We have been freed from the world, though we continue to be in it. Paul may have foreseen similar thoughts when he said 1 Corinthians 10:27, "If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake."

I have a dear brother in Christ that just retired recently as an airline captain of a well known company, and the company also began supporting gay rights parades. Should he have thrown away a career the Lord made open to him, and that he had worked at for years because of that? He didn't and made the comment, "That's really something isn't it?" and continued working for the company as if they were the Lord giving him his instruction. He became a mighty witness to many in that which the Lord had sent him.

Oh by the way, airplanes are the cause of many deaths also, but like my friend, I wouldn't leave until the Lord removed me.*
