Help choosing a church

I'm getting my spirituallity back on track with Jesus and I want to attend services. I was brought up catholic but I never really felt a strong
commitment to the catholic church. I've always thought that all Christians hold the same values, and that each church was just a different group with their own way of worship. So I haven't been for a while (years), and wonder how to choose. Should I just travel around until I find one that I like? Is it just a matter of matching my own personal views with that of the church? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm also looking for a church. This Sunday I'm going to the second one.
What I did was send an e-mail to the pastor if I could talk to him/her after the service so I can ask something about that church and see if I can find myself in it. Last weekend I went to a church that was a bit too free in their opinions I think. This weekend I'll go to the Baptist Church, I e-mailed the pastor and he send me a nice reaction. After the service we will have a short talk. Hopefully that will be the church for me.
Hope this helps. Good luck !

searching for a church

I too am in search of a church home. I view many streaming faith videos of sermons to get my spiritual food, but I want to be involved with believers and to get to work for God in whatever He has planned for me. I suppose going and trying them out one by one is the only way to find the right place.

Just a heads up, I work at a church, and get calls/ emails, etc a lot on this subject. If you are hesitant about trying a bunch of churches, contact them and ask them to send you a brief list of their articles of faith. That would tell you basically what they believe in. Ask if they have a CD ministry where they record their services, and see if they will mail you one. Then you can participate without actually being there, and if you feel uncomfortable about what's on the CD, you can stop it. That's a lot easier than trying to leave a church early.
See if they have a website, many churches like mine have a DVD ministry as well. You can actually see services. I hope these ideas help you.

Great ideas... Thank You!

Find a church where you get blessed, uplifted, encouraged, drawn near to God etc.

This is 'talkjesus' find a church where they talk about Jesus.

I go to Neighborhood Assembly of God. I love it. Great worship service, great pastor; truly a man of God. He's like Paul Washer. He doesn't let you get by with saying "I'm saved because I said a prayer."
