I just went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, and got this thought:
"I am god".

I am not god.

I am not god.

I got this thought, and I strongly regret it, please, how can I be forgiven? Jesus forgives, but this is an insult of god, it is something that could actually cause severe punishment. What do I do?

Help!

I am not god I am not God

Tormenting thoughts are a reality to all of us at one time or the other in our lives. And some people are driven to horrible actions and decisions because of tormenting thoughts clicking through the brain like a train going down its track.

There are many helpful tools for putting down such thoughts but I would like to address the wonderful secret of "IGNORING". There is great mental and spiritual strength in simply ignoring a thought; giving it no reaction whatsoever, acting as if it is not there. It eventually goes away. When the tormenting thought returns, continue to respond in the same way. Give no reaction in body or mind to the fact that it is there. And soon it will not return. It is that old adage of not feeding. If you do not feed the thought with your emotional and bodily responses (for instance sometimes when we have bad thoughts we wring our hands or rub our foreheads or groan or etc) the thoughts will simply die. They will disappear. Refusing to give in to the thoughts in any way and simply continuing with what you are doing is a powerful tool against tormenting thoughts.

I once had some horrible thoughts that were distracting and driving me. And torment is the word for this type of thing. I tried replacing the thoughts. I tried pleading the blood of Jesus. I tried binding the enemy in the Name of Jesus. I tried EVERYTHING! I got nowhere. But when I began to ignore them they slowly but surely died and disappeared. And have stayed gone.

So. You might want to consider simply "IGNORING". After all, they are not the thoughts of the person you are in Christ Jesus. Those thoughts belong to Satan. Let him keep them!

I agree with Shepardsrace and like to add a few things. First, I currently face this problem now and never did before, or not even close to what I do now anyway. Its horrific, dangerous, mentally frustrating and spiritually aggravating. But, I've learned that ignoring them is a sure way to make them go away.

Secondly, the more you dwell on godly things, the less these thoughts will trouble you. The more you listen to worship music, pray, praise GOD, surround yourself in a godly environment (people, even serene nature of GOD) the more at peace you will find yourself at.

I can't as I have some tasks. The devil tries to pull me away from telling the true stories from God.

Re: "Blasphemic Thought"

Ignoring the offending thoughts is wonderful advice and what helps me to ignore them is reminding myself of these words:

"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it." (1 Cor 10:13)

Tormenting thoughts are meant to push God out of my mind. Recalling this verse pushes him back in.

You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. When those thoughts enter your head you just cast down vain imaginations that try to exalt themselves higher than God. Pray about it let your request be made known the Lord knows your heard but ask and seek why you are thinkings stuff like that. Also the enemy place suggestions in our mind he cannot read your thoughts but he can suggest things.

Be encourage and as the word say "Pray without ceasing."

Knowing that God is able.

Hey!
u know. we have a "proverb" in Arabic that sais: u cannot stop a bird from flying over ur head once, but u sertanly can stop him from making his nest on ur head!
i don't know if u get it or not, but sometimes, u have a thought that just passed over ur head, what u did was excellent, u regected it and u prayed...
i think these kinda thoughts come when u had watched about 5 movies or sat on a computer 4 too long...or u know, just was concentrated on somthing that didn't really make u think...
i'll b praying 4 u
love and blessings

We have no control over what enters our mind.

We have been exhorted to "pray without ceasing" Excellent advice.

I like the thought that "we cannot control what bird flies over our head,, but we can surely stop him from building a nest in our hair" Thanks for that 'Manal-Taylor'

Absolutely true

Transgression enters when such thoughts lead to an action. As thoughts.......harmless indeed, and can be rebuked by the name of Jesus.
