Hi, God Bless!

Here I am posting a few verses which are putting me in serious thinking. Kindly help me out.

In Matthew 5:17-18, Jesus has stated: “Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the [way of] the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished.”

However, Paul, who claimed to be a disciple of Jesus, systematically cancelled the laws. In his letter to the Romans, chapter 7:6, he stated, “But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit.”

In Matthew 5:19, Jesus Christ was reported to have warned against breaking and abolishing the law. “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

Now, Paul who is the author of half of the 27 books of the new testament and founder of present christian theology, is facing a serious warning from Jesus. And it is putting me in trouble, I will be obliged to recieve your help.

Take care and Peace!

Context is very important in each of these statements. He was speaking to Jews who had the law all through thousands years, and Jesus telling that He fulfilled the law that they could nowise accomplish. Receiving Jesus brings a man's spirit to incorporate the Holy Spirit. In an instant you are saved. Thereafter His Spirit moves in you to recognize and confess sin and ask for forgiveness, perhaps not instantly, but willingly, continually. Your faith in Him gives you the righteousness of God by which God can look upon you as without transgression against the law.

Seek God through Jesus Christ daily, not men who speak of Him, but the filling of His Spirit to know Him as only you, one individual created unique by Him, can know Him, for He alone knows you, and better than yourself. God then leads you to your arena to teach those whom He prepares to hear from the likes of you. Christ Jesus has you covered. It is a process, not a thing to suddenly act, as though following these scriptures like a list of rules.

The LORD, bless you and keep you, and guide you each day, through Jesus Christ, by the power of His Holy Spirit. Amen.

Respectfully,
To Christ :-)

Yahweh Bless!

Paul did not say that we are no longer supposed to keep the law, but that we were "discharged from the law". The law is no longer our master. We keep the law because we love Jesus.

Jhn 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

The law said:

Deu 27:26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them.

We are no longer attempting to acheive salvation by keeping the law, we are saved by grace.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Just because we're under grace doesn't mean we can sin.

Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

May Yahweh guide you in His Truth and Love,

Christ's Serf

Paul did not speak of the law being cancelled. We are not redeemed from the law, we are redeemed from the curse of the law.
"All who rely (solely) on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law'.Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because 'the righteous shall live by faith.' The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, 'the man who does these things will live by them.' Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.'He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit." (Gal 3:10-17)

"Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin." (Ro 3:19-20).

Help needed

Hello,
Brother "Living"
Count yourself very blessed in the spirit~!
This type questioning seems to be a "new thing" that is drawing out serious berean believers to examine many of the "doctrines of men" that have been handed down since Paul.

May I begin by saying that Jesus is "the same Yesterday, today and Tomorrow. Father God is a God who does not change (Not even a "shadow of turning", no hint, NOT!).

Therefore something is amiss if we are told to ignore the first 5 (foundational) books of the bible.(the Torah) which is the word translated as "Law." It might have been accurately translated as the "Loving Instructions of Father God:"

Jesus said I came "NOT to Abolish" but to "Fill full" the Torah ("law").
When we look at the whole Word, we find that the "sting of death" (the death sentence of transgressing God's commandments) was what was "cancellable" --- IF we followed the
WAY of Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew = Salvation). What was this way? The way of the LIVING TORAH WALKED OUT IN THE FLESH! Jesus called himself "the way, the truth, the light" which was (like a code phrase) understood in his day to mean TORAH.

So he called himself "Torah". He was living TORAH life! as an example for us to know how to walk out Torah or what has been mistranslated "law".
The MISSING ingredient "Weightier portions of the law (Torah), for which he chided the hypocrites (Hypocritical Pharisees) was Mercy, Love, and Justice.

I find your scripture a poor translation. It more literally means the "Penalty of transgressing the Law."

I MUST TAKE STRONG EXCEPTION TO THE CONCLUSION YOU STATE:

"However, Paul, who claimed to be a disciple of Jesus, systematically cancelled the laws. In his letter to the Romans, chapter 7:6, he stated, “But now we are discharged from the law, dead to that which held us captive, so that we serve not under the old written code but in the new life of the Spirit.”

"New life of the Spirit" I would intrepret as meaning "Impregnated by Jesus (Salvation) with the spirit / heart of Father God" If that is true, you have a new Spirit of LOVE, both for your fellow men, and for FATHER GOD. And you wish to Please Him not yourself.

The "Law" was a check, teacher, restraint, on the selfish, evil inclinations of man's corrupt heart. Jesus- Yeshua- "Salvation" changes that to an incorruptible heart--- Just like the Father and just like the example of Jesus.
But we are told to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling" so, that means that it is a process in which we participate. We follow the light of Yeshua's example of how to properly become a KING AND PRIEST, as David was..as he foretold of Yeshua and became the "House of David" lineage from which Yeshua was born. This House is a house of WORSHIPERs in SPIRIT and in TRUTH. Whose heart is "after the Father's" heart of love, honor, respect, and devotion to TORAH. David repeatedly writes in Psalms"
"How I love thy 'law,'" "I delight in thy Law, precepts, statutes" and all scriptures.

Like David (who was not perfect), Paul says "I do what I don't want to do".
But often in the error of sin, comes the clear lesson leading to a firm, permanent repentance.

This Davidic House, of KINGS AND PRIESTS AFTER GOD'S OWN HEART, was prophesied TO ELI re his Son's Corruption at altar:
(note I coppied with the KJV Strong's words... I often look up these meanings to check the veracity of translation. After all, these words were penned first in Hebrew, then Greek (a foreign cultrue) and then English...
1Sa 2:35 And I will raise me up6965 a faithful539 priest,3548 that shall do6213 according to that which834 is in mine heart3824 and in my mind:5315 and I will build1129 him a sure539 house;1004 and he shall walk1980 before6440 mine anointed4899 forever.3605, 3117
1Sa 2:36 And it shall come to pass,1961 that every one3605 that is left3498 in thine house1004 shall come935 and crouch7812 to him for a piece95 of silver3701 and a morsel3603 of bread,3899 and shall say,559 Put5596 me, I pray thee,4994 into413 one259 of the priests' offices,3550 that I may eat398 a piece6595 of bread.3899

Jesus was that "faithful priest" from the line of David who was a prophetic type.
Father was establishing the PATH ( The WAY, as Jesus's movement and disciples were called)

So, since Father God does not change we must seek deeper truth to understand Paul correctly. He has been often (historically) misinterpreted by men who failed to accurately perceive the Hebraic underpinnings of what Paul wrote. You must understand the culture to understand the true meanings. Some of these great men were themselves so anti-semitic that they did not realize their own prejudice blocked (partial blindness) their accuracy.
The scripure you quote as prompting your question is proof of need whole word:
In Matthew 5:19, “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

This is not the only scripture that so states this principal.
Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed,
which keep the commandments of God
, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Brother, the problem is error in the "doctrines of Men" as have been taught in church for centuries until they "superceded" the scripture when accurately taken as a whole.

Start by getting a new bible translation NASB is easy to read. Some newer versions use the more accurately the true Name of God which helps some what to clarify other issues of confusion. I find a key method of study, to get the whole counsel and an overview of the word is to study the concept, or words contained in a complete bible search.
Then I have a balance perspective and am not led astray by a few select quotes.

Let me close with one long bible quote.

1Jo 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1Jo 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1Jo 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1Jo 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jo 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
1Jo 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1Jo 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1Jo 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
1Jo 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

May HIS spirit guide you to all truth and only the truth remain in your heart.

Magnificent, Dr. Yosef!!! Thank you and likewise to you, YHWH in that Christ Jesus is Truth alone enough and sufficient to separate from the absence of love to the innermost being. So is Montgomery lean toward the Dallas Cowboys or Houston Texans? Salim.

Sorry, Neither team is of interest to me. I look forward to the day these arenas are host to revival in righteousness.

Shalom

So you don't like Islam? Neither do I. Just thought I'd throw that in. But don't mess with me on the rhetoric to hasten Armaggedon end. I'm a Dallas Cowboy's fan and respectfully, for all you more than academic knowledge of God, if they don't have football in heaven I ain't going. This is a fair planet. Those, in my opinion who are rallying for a final war, so they can see their side win are wanting understanding of the eons more than one the first Day and Night the world was not here. And the fourth Day the times and seasons became dictated by the sun and moon for 24 hour days and 365 day years. What is a day to God, Christ, Holy Spirit, if man claims that his clock is HIS.
Thank you for your interesting input. I was more interested in a complete depth of reading before your skewed territorial came into play. The Almighty Creator, God, through Christ Jesus unfathomable, the Word, regardless of words keep you and yours safe and bored. (-: LOVE never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:8) But a sense of humor about oneself goes a great dear further if it does not take the entire planet's conforming to one pedant's opinion of how lovely it would be if the whole world were as he. Kindly say hello to the sky in Texas for me.

It seems many have confused old testament - new testament with old covenant - new covenant. There is a big big big difference. One are books and the other are contracts.

To try and "keep the law" after coming to Christ and being born-again is to call God a liar.

Galatians 5:1-4
1 So Christ has really set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.
2 Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ cannot help you. 3 I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey all of the regulations in the whole law of Moses. 4 For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

Jesus said that He came to fulfill that contract and that He did!

And this is why we have a new contract.

My dear brother in Christ, I will be most humblly honoured to share my limited understnanding of God's infinte knowledge and love. If you would so kindly look at the scripture Jesus quote concerning heaven and earth passing along with the passing of the law' I believe it is one and the same. The commandents that were being taught I believe is referring not to the passing of the old but the bringing in of the new.

Your Brother in Christ
servant of the LORD

If the Holy Spirit can give you His light, you will be captivated by something which will change your whole life. You will not be the same thereafter. It will suddenly dawn on you how wrong our attitudes were and how egotistical are our lives are as Christians. You will realize how thoroughly Christendom has been fashioned, formed and dictated by traditon instead of by the Holy Spirit.

What will prove to be the most devastating revelation will be seeing how enslaved we were to the book, the letter, and consequently, by death as well. You will see how traditon and the entire Christian system have silenced the Word of God and dictated to us what the Bible is allowed or not allowed to express.

The Reformation put the Bible back into our hands; but at the same time, it turned Christianity into a book religion. Today, we find ourselves in a situation with regard to Protestantism that is similar to the situation the first churches were in with regard to the Synagogue. Concerning this, Paul wrote "for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." ( quoted from the book "The Mystery Of God, Christ All And In All" by Manfred Haller)
