Hello Willem...
From my own experience I can tell you its pretty normal for things get worse when we`ve asked God for help...after all God does not give us band-aid solutions for issues of the heart...He digs deep...and roots
out the problem...but I also know He never abandons, even for a moment, the heart He is working on...He is right there with you...
If you feel you need to talk to someone, message a member of the team...or just talk here if you like...it may help you work through the things that are troubling you...

I have had that "getting worse" feeling that you speak of and am currently dealing with it. I speak of this in my post "In need of prayer." All i can say is that you feel that way because God is working on your heart just as Coconut says.
Do not despair as things will increasingly get better. Many deal with problems such as this(such as my parents) but the thing is you have God.
Things will happen when you put your trust in him. I am slowly healing and feeling better everyday. I posted on here for more encouragement and it has worked.
I hope I am encouraging you by telling you you are not alone and that others deal with the same problem. Also the fact that you are feeling this way is proof that God is healing you. You see it getting worse because, as I have somewhat thought about it, Satan is trying to bring you back to him. Just resist and keep talking to God.
Before you know it you'll be as good as new!

Even if you walk the wrong direction your entire life it only takes one step to change your direction and destination.
Pray and ask forgiveness, God will always here and Christ has paid your price.
Call on Jesus for strength to overcome. Take each step in total dependence on Him believing that He is empowering you; that is walking by faith. Every step, every stride trusting that He and He alone is delivering you. Soon you will see that you have traveled far from the place you started and that all in His strength.
Remember that God's precious Holy Spirit is with you always. He is ever present and always longing to be part of every aspect of our lives. This begs the question do we really want to sin and grieve this beautiful One? The answer is no and victory begins with an awareness of His presence combined with a simple child like trust.
