Is there really not a good person? Even if that person doesn't have a relationship Jesus. There are people who are very giving, humble and loving I know everyone sins but what does God think about people like that? Yes the bible says that only God is good how do you tell people that they're not a good person I see how that offends them when you present the gospel. I have a grandma who is really sweet and lives in Mexico she's been through so much in her life she's catholic though and if I present the gospel to my mom and family she/they won't believe me because my mom thinks we're all good people. My family is Hispanic and catholic some live here in California and Mexico i feel like this battle is going to be big i feel a heavy burden on my heart. I also have two family members who are attracted to the same sex so this makes it harder :(

There's goodness in all sorts of people in all sorts of places. I too have unbelieving family member who are wise, kind, compassionate and generous.

To understand Jesus' comment 'no-one is good but God alone you need to see who her talking to and their situation -- it's the final week, and the wolves are circling trying to find a way to trap Jesus and kill him.

Hi Brenda, The good Samaritan was a good person, he was not one of God's people, he put God's people to shame, they walked by on the other side. The fact that Jesus, who is God, chose to mention him, shows that God is aware of us all. The gospel isn't about good or bad, Jesus had mercy on the thief on the cross, he couldn't be called good, but he believed that Jesus was who he said he was, and that was what moved Jesus. We are Christians, Aliens in this world, we're not called to judge others, we're called to love them. It's our love that speaks the gospel to them, as well as answering questions and telling them about Jesus. Jesus told us that we would be reviled for our faith, but so was Jesus, we're in the best company. Bless you.

There is no one good because everyone is selfish to varying degrees and acts based on that selfishness. God’s law in its essence is against selfishness so anyone who lives pursuing selfishness is going against God’s law. This world operates on selfishness and encourages people to be selfish. People become corrupted through selfish acts and sooner or later become more and more wicked. All big crimes started out as small acts of selfishness that accumulated until the person makes selfishness a practice and seeks own interests regardless of consequences.
