Hi everyone,

I just found out last week that my blood pressure is 160/80. The nurse told me this is slightly high and she wasn't worried about it. I was having a bit of back discomfort at the time my pressure was taken and she said pain can raise the blood pressure. Now I read on the internet that 160/80 I should be given high blood pressure medicine (120/80 is normal).

I have been bad this winter in eating a lot of chips and candy and no exercise. Last week I began a drastic change to my diet in counting all sodium intake and eating veggies and fruits. But it's gotten to the point that I'm so afraid to eat anything because of salt and fat intatke that I hardley eat anything at all. And I don't need to loose weight.

Another thing that happens is I have a constant ringing in my ears. I got my ears cleaned four weeks ago and it didn't get rid of the ringing. I read on the internet that can be a sign of high blood pressure. I'm obsessing and stressing out about this and it's all I think about. Can anyone help or give me advice? Or if you'd like to share your high blood pressure experience with me?

I can!

Cayenne cayenne cayenne .....

(do a little google search on Cayenne & high blood pressure if you want to know why i`m hollering cayenne) :embarasse

Btw....peoples blood pressure does fluctuate from time to time for various reasons...it is NOT TRUE that you should be on medication as the result of one reading...but several showing consistently high bp...however it should be enough to make you start taking preventive measures.

On the other hand, you are in a perfect position, (not yet being dependent on drugs to control your bp) to prove to yourself and the medical establishment how GODS medicine works (the guy upstairs who created the herbs of the field for our healing) ...i`m not afraid to say it works WONDERS!

Coconut, thank you! You are so wonderful. I just read about cayenne pepper from Google and I got some home remedies that I plan to use. I never knew about this. First thing tomorrow I'm buying some.

Yes, God has given us so many natural remedies in nature and I do want to use them.

I am impressed that you are impressed

I`ve been taking cayenne for quite awhile now, cant get most people to take it because it causes a mild burning sensation in the tummy until you get used to it, but I always take it in capsules with yogurt and VCO, and am convinced this spice is everything they say it is, especially when it comes to circulation, and nourishing the heart and blood vessels!

I`m going to be away for a bit, so while i`m here I should add, adding a good quality magnesium supplement (my research tells me it should preferably be liquid) to your diet is also very beneficial for heart health.

I dont know nearly as much as I wish, but these are two supplements that I would`nt be without according to what I`ve learned about them, along with my VCO of course, but then whats a Coconut who is`nt crazy about Coconut Oil

Blessings

Living with High Blood Pressure

I too live with High Blood pressure! My daily readings have been 185/101 which isn't good. I have been on medicine for four years now ever since having a two stints put near and around my heart. But I don't fear what may happen for I live each day by the grace of God giving Him the glory for every breath I take...for its a gift of God. So don't get stressed out for it will cause you more problems than you need right now. Take my advice and have your Doctor check for any blockages going to your heart. You could have the beginnings of blockage which can raise your blood pressure. Also change your diet and stay away from chips and oily foods.

See a doctor and stay off caffine and all stimulants.
I will be praying for you.

From experiences, I can say form an exercise routine.. Think of it as something fun, you know. If you love sports for instance, improvise and practice your favourite game, football, tennis at recurrent periods in the day etc..

secondly, I think this is where couples benefit.. A married man or woman can always depend on the help and encouragement from loved ones.. In my experience, it was my dad who had to be constantly reminded as to the right food to eat, what not to eat, sometimes he'd come home frustrated because of cravings here and there, but she'd always manage to prepare something enjoyable from the required provisions.. So it helps to have people like these around you..

Good luck.. Dont beat yourself down with such news.. God bless..

Before you get medicated

Hi Mouse,
Before you get medication, do all you can do with your diet and exercise. HPB runs in my family, and I've had it since my early 30's, and one thing the Doc's won't tell you is that there are side-effects to these medicines. I suffered with back pain, and kidney pain for years before running out of my bp med's and having the pain go away. Also, once I got off the med I lost 30 pounds in about a month and a half - I went online and found out that one of the side-effects to the drug was weightgain. And 160/80 isn't as bad as it seems, the lower number is fine, and the higher will go down with simple relaxation.

Thanks everyone for your replies and helping me to relax about it. I know I shouldn't fear or worry as God tells us to. But it's so hard to apply when faced with health threats.

I will not take hpb medicines unless it's dire straights. My lifestyle has gotten better with going to the gym and taking long walks. Now that winter is past and spring has sprung my mind has been better. I take a multivitamin and eat healthy stuff and my body seems to be adjusting well. I found more options for better foods and I read labels on everything. Gradually I've added cayenne spice to my diet thanks to Coconut's advice. Funny thing, I put it on pizza and it was really yummy.

I haven't had my bp rechecked because I don't want to worry, lol. Does anyone know how long it takes for bp to lower after beginning a healthy lifestyle?

Hello,
You gave very nice information about high blood pressure. here are some more information about controlling of high blood pressure.
Blood pressure often increases as weight increases. Losing just 10 pounds can help reduce your blood pressure. In general, the more weight you lose, the lower your blood pressure. Losing weight also makes any blood pressure medications you're taking more effective. You and your doctor can determine your target weight and the best way to achieve it.

Besides shedding pounds, you should also keep an eye on your waistline. Carrying too much weight around your waist can put you at greater risk of high blood pressure. In general:

Men are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 40 inches (102 centimeters, or cm).
Women are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 35 inches (88 cm).
Asian men are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 36 inches (90 cm).
Asian women are at risk if their waist measurement is greater than 32 inches (80 cm).

thanks!!
