This is a quick summary of our pastors sermon today. Very powerful, and I REALLY needed to hear it!
----------------------------

What is the greatest hindrance of worship? Fear.

Proverbs 29:25 "Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe."

When you are at church and you are worshipping, are you ever afraid to raise your hands? Maybe because your neighbors or co-workers are there and they may see you? You cannot let this effect you showing your affection to the Lord. When you do, you are caring more about what people think than what God thinks. That means instead of worshipping the Lord, you are worshipping people.

What causes the greatest hindrance of worship? Shame.

Since we come from Adam & Eve, we are born ashamed. We are sinful beings and we are aware of our nakedness, just as Adam & Eve were. (Gen 3:8-10) When they hid from God in the garden, they were doing the opposite of worship. Worshipping is entering the presence of God, not pulling away from it.

Anyone who suffers from fear has an incomplete or incorrect understanding of God's grace. Plus, it doesn't help that Satan is so good at shame that he'll make you feel it for doing something good. Guard your hearts. And listen up!

What conquers the greatest hindrance of worship? Acceptance!

Eph 1:3-6; 2:8-9

God has already blessed us! There are no works we can do to make us be more saved. The only way to be without blame is...GRACE! He embraced us and forgave us. Believe it and never forget it.

Good post, WingedGrace. When I first came to Christ, I was very reluctant to raise my hands or call out praise to God at Church. Someone may see me. Someone may chide me for being weird.

But, as time went on and the urge do do these things grew as my love for him grew, I came to understand that its not about me, its about HIM. He deserves vocal and demonstrative praise.
