Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and a fool. Proverbs 19:1

Today's verse links dishonesty and foolishness. It's hard to trust someone who has an open foolishness account. Those who are poor but trustworthy are in a much better position.

An honest and trustworthy man can sleep well at night, has a greater potential for meaningful friendships, and will be remembered for something more than personal struggles. A dishonest man has to try to come up with fresh answers for ongoing deceit, never knows when he'll be caught in a lie, and is remembered for his attempts to avoid the truth.

The emphasis on today's verse is honesty. You can be honest and poor or honest and rich. You can also be dishonest and poor or dishonest and rich. Perhaps the reason poor is mentioned in the first example is that it's something most people want to avoid, but it doesn't have to be a condition that leads to dishonesty.

Prayer: Lord, may I go on an honesty diet and keep my distance from foolishness. Even when honesty is hard, help me to place a strong grip on the truth and invite greater trust in my words, my walk, and my will. Help me to accept Your truth so I'll live honestly.

Greeting brother

This is such an important subject my friend, the devil will always try tempt people to lie, he himself is the author of lies, he was a liar from the beginning.

The Bible has a lot to say about honesty, sincerity, loyalty, obedience, spiritual integrity and living a blameless life.

It takes time to gain respect, lies can demolish that respect in a second. There is no such thing as a white lie, a lie is a lie, a sin is a sin.

Honesty always pays, even in this sinful time we live, honesty always pays.

A liar has to have an incredible memory, he has to remember all previous lies to avoid falling in his own trap.
A lie is a sin, it is a stain on our character, it can raise it's head at any time in the future when we least expect it.

Honesty is a reflection of our character, it is also a way to show our faith.

God made honesty one of his commandments, the 9th Commandment.
Since God cannot lie, He sets the example for all of His people. It is God's desire that we follow that example in all that we do.

9 - You shall not bear false witness (shall not lie) against your neighbour

We come together in Prayer:
Lord, may I go on an honesty diet and keep my distance from foolishness. Even when honesty is hard, help me to place a strong grip on the truth and invite greater trust in my words, my walk, and my will. Help me to accept Your truth so I'll live honestly.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
