Household salvation

Hey ya'll! I am not sure this in the right place so if it isnt, someone move it to where it goes!!!!

My question is about household salvation.

I know the bible says just because I am saved and have been baptized, doesnt mean my whole house is saved.
I know scripture says that in Acts 11:14 Cornelious was promised household salvation. I know Cornelious and his family all heard God's word, and that's how he got household salvation- the WHOLE family believed.

Well as some of you know my marital situaton, how am I, as a saved christian woman, supposed to bring my husband to God's word considering our living arrangements?

1 Corinthians 7:14 speaks of sanctifying a husband through the believing wife. I know at this point all I can do is pray for my husband as I have done as well as my church, friend, and you guys here. I guess my question is this- am I enough and are all of you enough through our prayers able to save my husband?
By that I mean are we all enough to intercede I guess on his behalf or does any of this have to come through my husband himself? I know only he can ask God to save him. We cant ask God to save and fill my husband with the Holy Spirit. I know that part has to come from my husband.I guess I feel if he were in my home, I could do more on his behalf. Does the separation even matter as he is still married to me?

I know this is all in Gods hands and God is fully capable. I am even more accepting of this through Gods grace. However, I am still not ready to let satan have my husband!

Can I intercede on his behalf through prayer?

I want for him AND my children to be filled with our Lord and Saviour like me.
I want him to know God can and will help if he will just ask him.

Anyway, I am not understanding the whole household salvation. I understand it, but dont know if the distance between us makes a difference. Any help and understanding in this would be greatly appreciated!!!

thank you all and I love you all.

Thank You Jesus for saving me from myself and I love you too!!!!!

Hi Wendy

I hear what you say re household salvation. "Thou shalt be saved, and thy house" Acts 16 v 31. This is the ideal. This is something we should always be looking for, as we pray and live our lives. "and thy house" Yes I also look for such.

To reach the ideal we all have to strive/press, in Jesus. The bible throughout teaches the 'ideal'. In Jesus we pray, we hope, we trust we do all that we can do to achieve the "ideal" in Jesus.

I have not yet attained to it. But I believe and I trust my Master that ere long my hope in this will be realised....in Jesus mighty love. And for you also in His Love

God bless

Wendy: Patience, girl! Patience! Acts 11:14 does not say that Cornelius's family would all come to Christ quickly. It usually takes time, lots of time. I've been praying for my wife and children to come to Christ for years. My son died this past August of liver disease at age 32. I prayed for him to receive Jesus for eleven years. He came to Christ on his deathbed. I've been praying for my wife and daughter to get saved for years, too.

Two Scriptures I lean on in praying for my family's salvation: 2 Pt 3:9 "He (God) is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" and Mark 11:22-23 " "'Have faith in God', Jesus replied. 'I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go throw yourself into the sea.' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him."

Keep praying day after day. And round up a huge bunch of prayer warriors to pray along with you. I have an e-mail list that includes more than ninety Christians. I asked all of them to pray for my son's salvation when his illness entered the critical stage in 2005. A friend told me later that that probably developed into a network of a thousand or more people praying. God responded, David responded, and now my son is in Heaven.

Charrot: Please explain what you mean by God will save us all!!!. Do you mean to say that He will save every person that has ever been created? If that is what you mean, please show some Scripture citations to back it up.

Do you believe God sent His Son to save only a certain select?

Hello Wendy.

Don't you worry. Your faith saves your family.

If you lead by example, and speak in parables, that's all you can do.

Pray for them so that they may see the light, in the name of Christ Jesus.

Edit:

I just thought I would add, that in order to truly love him - let him be free. Don't force anything on him. He will see the light in you. If he doesn't want to go to church - don't make him. If he doesn't want to read the bible - don't make him. Just pray for him. Let him be free. Satan will not have your husband, as you and your husband are One.

Jiggy: We've argued this before. We both know that God does not play favorites. But, Scripture is very clear on what is needed for salvation:

"He (the Lord) is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentence." (2 Pet 3:9b NIV)

"Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
(Ro 10:13 NIV)

"And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
(Acts 2:21 NIV)

"'The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,' that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Acts 10:8-10 NIV)

Hallelujah, Christ came to save the whole world.

Christ came to make salvation available to all. That's the message of the Scriptures.

So salvation is not available to everyone? Christ came to save some but not all?

Poor choice of words. My bad. I've edited the post.

"He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, or of a husband's will, but born of God."
