When I was a teenager still living at home with my parents, I would often hear from my Mom, "Charlie, how are you and the Lord getting along?

She passed away in February of '23, and what comes to mind most often are those words. At the time I didn't think much about it, but now I look back and those words are worth more than a truckload of pure gold.

She was always concerned about my relationship with the Lord, she would often speak of her relationship with Christ and how she relied on Him for everything.

Maybe a year before she passed away, she gave me some Scripture to read and asked me to compare my relationship with Christ with that of the great Apostle Paul. I would like to share that Scripture with you and ask you to compare your relationship with Christ to his.

How are you and the Lord getting along?

Phil. 3:7-14

"But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
I like this scripture as Paul wanted to "apprehend" (that word means to lay hold of) Paul said Jesus had laid hold upon him and Paul wanted to reciprocate by laying hold upon Jesus. Lay hold upon eternal life (I Tim 6:12)
