Daniel 12:2-3
2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Daniel 12:3

I was reading Spurgeon today on this very verse......

Here is something to wake me up.
This is worth living for.
To be wise is a noble thing in itself: in this place it refers to a divine wisdom which only the Lord Himself can bestow.
Oh, to know myself, my God, my Saviour!
May I be so divinely taught that l may carry into practice heavenly truth and live in the light of it!
Is my life a wise one?
Am I seeking that which I ought to seek?
Am I living as I shall wish I had lived when I come to die?
Only such wisdom can secure for me eternal brightness as of yonder sunlit skies.

To be a winner of souls is a glorious attainment.
I had need to be wise if I am to turn even one to righteousness; much more if I am to turn many,
Oh, for the knowledge of God, of men, of the Word, and of Christ, which will enable me to convert my fellowmen and to convert large numbers of them!
I would give myself to this, and never rest till I accomplish it.
This will be better than winning stars at court.
This will make me a star, a shining star, a star shining forever and ever; yea, more, it will make roe shine as many stars.
My soul, arouse thyself.
Lord, quicken me!

He that winneth souls is wise
Proverbs 11:22

Hi Fragrant Grace,

Only such wisdom can secure for me eternal brightness as of yonder sunlit skies.
To be a winner of souls is a glorious attainment.

This will make me a star, a shining star, a star shining forever and ever;

Spurgeon
used the same verses to apply to himself, that I used to question others. Isn't it interesting that God brought this to both of us at the same time.

It is a promise and a warning.

Hello Eric

These words from Spurgeon and Daniel 12:3 have stayed on my heart and mind for the last few days now.....

Pondering....
How brightly do I shine now for Jesus?
How much do I uphold the word of God before the world?
Is my brightness clouded by my worldliness and sin?
Is my lamp feeble and dim and of no use to the lost?

Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

Philippians 2:14-16

Ye are the light of the world.
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid…
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 5: 14-16

hello every body.
I dont know how bright i will shine in the lords kingdom, I dont mind if i am just a faint glow in the corner as long as i am where the lord is and i am living in his sight.

I understand what you are saying. When you bow before king Jesus and cast your crowns (rewards) before him how will you feel if you have none to offer? The brightness of your glow

will indicate your faithfulness here on earth forever. That thought motivates me to be bold for Christ.

Sacrifice now what you can not keep for rewards then that you can not lose for eternity!

Maybe it has something to do with how we shine while we are on the earth?

Matt 5:16 "Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Yes I agree B-A-C

Everything we do here on earth should be to the glory of our Lord, that we shine for Him, with His love
Sharing His gospel,

(O that I could be more for Jesus and less for me)

Let us live each day for Jesus in the light of eternity...where He is all and will the glory eternally

Blessing, honour, glory and power, be unto the Lamb for ever and ever
Revelation 5:13

The bride eyes not her garment
But her dear bridegroom's face
I will not gaze at glory
But on my King of grace
Not at the crown He giveth
But on His pierced hand

The Lamb is all the glory
Of Immanuels land*
